Kyrgyz president admits abuses by security forces

President Roza Otunbayeva has for the first time acknowledged that Kyrgyz security forces were responsible for rights abuses against minority Uzbeks in the wake of deadly ethnic riots. The admission in an interview with AFP by Otunbayeva came after a string of allegations from rights groups and the United Nations that the security forces were specifically targeting Uzbeks after the clashes that rocked the Central Asian state.
