A hailstorm that ripped across Himachal Pradesh devastated the famous apple crop in the town of Shimla.

Farmers were expecting a good crop this year, but now almost 80% of their crop has been damaged.

The state has faced several hailstorms, which resulted in a loss of over $100-million.

The Horticulture Department is now compiling and sending the crop damage report to the federal government to get compensation for the apple farmers.

Almost 400 square miles of land in the hilly state is used to grow apples.
