Jiminy Cricket was Pinocchio’s official conscience to tell him right from wrong, for if Pinocchio proves himself brave, truthful and unselfish, he will be transformed into a real boy. Jiminy Cricket was Pinocchio’s external conscience until Pinocchio developed his own conscience. He became a real boy!
I am using the Devotion to the Welfare of Humankind (DWH) Principle as an external absolute conscience until I can grow an absolute conscience of my own, and become a real man. Among other things, a real man is brave, truthful and unselfish. A real true man is a man of true love, and is qualified for marriage and family.
