Smith talks to experts in the field of torture, including CIA and US Army veterans. Smith has represented American prisoners on Death Row and, more recently, tortured prisoners in Gitmo. He examines cases of forced, false confessions as well as uses real case studies to analyse fundamental questions, concluding torture is useless as well as being repugnant and illegal.
