The hard work seems to be paying off for Camilla Kerslake. After a whirlwind year, which has seen her release her first record and perform at the country's most prestigious venues, she is now in the running for Album of the Year at the Classical Brit Awards.

Camilla said: "To be nominated for my first album and to be the only person nominated who's only had one album out... and I'm one of the only two females as well! It's fairly unbelievable, it hasn't quite sunk in yet."

The 21-year-old was the first signing to Take That star Gary Barlow's label Future Records in 2009, after apparently submitting her demo CD every day for six weeks. Her self-titled debut album was unveiled in November. The singer admits her life has changed dramatically over the past nine months.

"I'm getting to do incredible things," said Camilla.

"I've sung in the Royal Albert hall twice, I've performed at Wembley stadium for 90,000 people, I've done Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament. When so many exciting things happen to you at once, it doesn't quite sink in," she added.

Camilla can now count chart topper Gary as one of her friends and has his number stored on her phone.

"I do, he's speed dial seven," said the singer.

It does not mean she has insider info on the band's next movements though. She is unsure about whether the group are still planning to reunite with Robbie Williams.

"I have absolutely no idea. I'm friends with Robbie, I'm friends with all the boys, but they will never say anything," she said.
