"Our preliminary indications are that the contents constitute of the sulphur, potassium chloride and aluminum powder, which is yet to be confirmed. Potassium chloride is supposed to be an explosive but it is not a high explosive. It is an ordinary explosive, which is commonly used in crackers."

Police officials also examined the airline and airport staff.

"At the moment we are not ruling out anything, we actually want to find out who are the main operatives, what are their intentions, where were the explosives procured from and how did they managed to plant it at the place where it was found. All these things need to be investigated. It is a very comprehensive investigation at the end of which we will have answers to all the questions."

Passengers were taken off the plane after the cargo cleaner alerted the officials of a suspicious object.

The bomb disposal squad was soon rushed to the airport.

The explosive was defused and later taken off the aircraft.
