People with disabilities now constitute over 15% of the EU population or fifty million people.
The European Union is aware that many issues related to people with disabilities need special consideration so that these people take advantage of their rights. The main objective is to enable them to fulfill their civic roles and responsibilities and have the same individual choice and control over their lives as people without disabilities.
