The past is a foreign country . . . welcome to Cambridge in 1977. Gaint inflatable Martian monsters attack, high kicking Can Can girls whoop it up and the crowd chills to some far out tunes. All this and some wicked VHS drop out.

Film by Cambridge May Day Group

And here is some additional info . . .

at 17:17 it's the first WAVES (playing Aker Bilks Strangler on a shore...)
vocals (not shown in this clip)- Rob Kelly (first vocalist in The Lonely in 1979), later also did bass after...
Roger Dan (bass) left and went to Canada...
on guitar (1969 Gibson SG Special through WEM ER15) & vocals - Kimberley Rew
on drums and vocals - Alex Cooper
and GUEST on piano Roger Jackson (played in Cambridge bands Hamilton Gray and at the time of this film Gentleman with Rick Fenn later in 10cc).
nice shot of the Spaceward made monitor boxes... the PA was Spacewards for that stage, EV Eliminators 15' + 1" comp amd ST360 HF with Bose 800s (the wooden ones) and Crown DC300a's plus HH S500's... custom Spaceword desk with splitters and hand wound transformers... nice rig for the time

at 19:50 it's the second line up of the Soft Boys (first line up had Rob Lamb on guitar, later in the Korgis!!) Cold turkey... they also did a Captain Beefheart cover...

lead vocal gtr - Robyn Hitchcock
bass, voc - Andy Metcalfe
drums, voc - Morris Winsor
gtr - Alan Davis (replaced by Kim in Nov of '77, Alan then joined Duncan and the Darts)

at 24:30 it's Red Express... not really a Cam band, more Bishop Stortford, Harlow, Saffron Walden neck of the woods.
Dennis on vocals, Jumbo on bass, Bill Sharp on keys, Mark Jackson guitar, Malcolm Tagg-Randall saxophone and I think that was either Brian Wren or Jumbos brother Steve Barker on drums... 2nd guitar maybe Bubs White...
