Cow Urine Key Ingredient in Breakthrough Diabetes Treatment

ndian researchers have found that cow urine contains certain molecules that can fight diabetes.

Researchers are in the final stages of identifying the molecule that helps cure the disease. This is the first-ever scientific study on cow urine and its properties, and its findings have the potential to change the diabetes treatment in the country.

[Dr. K. Jayakumar, Researcher]:
"So far we’ve been working for last two years and one important finding is we can find in experimental animals—that is—an exprimental model for diabetes… And further work is in progress regarding this anti-diabetic activity so that we can find that molecule, and patent that molecule and then later on it can be commercialized."

With an estimated 50.8 million people living with diabetes, India has the world's largest diabetes population, followed by China with 43.2 million.

The research has given hope to millions of diabetic patients in the country.
