The video addresses the attempts of multiculturalists to establish multicultural education as a serious field of study. The history is one, however, of mixed ideology. Some suggest that the field has taken a detrimental and regressive shift into a more conservative and conceding direction. The last place for certain progress seems to be in concerted efforts to instill cultural awareness in in-service and pre-service teachers.
