00:00Welcome to WatchMojo and today we're counting down our picks for the best moments from the
00:05Dragon Ball franchise where characters sought and achieved vengeance.
00:31It's easy to forget, but Tau Pai Pai, or Mercenary Tau for the dub fans, was among Dragon Ball's
00:37first big threats.
00:38The martial artist killer delivers not only one of the series' first deaths, killing
00:43Goku's friend Bora, but also handing Goku one of his earliest defeats.
00:53However after some training climbing Corrin's tower, Goku comes back stronger than before,
00:59ready to avenge Bora.
01:01He hands the assassin his ass in their fight.
01:03No matter how many hands Tau throws, Goku has an answer for him and then some, sending
01:09the killer down to and through the earth.
01:11He leaves Tau so desperate that he resorts to using a grenade against Goku.
01:16However, that literally blows up in his face.
01:42Vegeta's time on Namek basically sees him steamroll his way through all of Frieza's flunkies one
01:48after another.
01:49At least, until he fights Zarbon.
01:51The handsome henchman uses his decidedly uglier transformation to quickly and brutally defeat
01:58the Saiyan prince.
02:06However, he makes the mistake of not killing Vegeta, and Saiyans get stronger every time
02:12they almost die.
02:13After escaping from Frieza's ship and stealing his Dragon Balls, Vegeta faces off against Zarbon
02:19again.
02:19This time, the shoe's on the other foot, as Vegeta lays a beatdown on his fiercely fabulous
02:25foe.
02:26Zarbon gets a fist through the stomach and, despite his attempt to sue for mercy, Vegeta
02:32is in no mood for it.
02:34He's after sweet revenge after all.
02:55The Great Goku reduced to a coward who can't fight back.
03:00What a joke!
03:01Well, easily one of the more cowardly and despicable Shadow Dragons, Naturon Shenron gets stronger
03:07by absorbing others into his body.
03:09While initially weak against Goku and his granddaughter Pan, Naturon becomes stronger after he absorbs
03:15the latter.
03:16With Naturon essentially holding Pan hostage, Goku can't go all out to defeat his opponent.
03:22He's forced to take a beating from Naturon despite being in the mighty Super Saiyan 4 form.
03:28However, this is all part of a cunning plan to rescue Pan.
03:32After Goku manages to separate her from him, Naturon is left in a weak, mole-like form who
03:38can't do anything to him.
03:51Goku easily beats the sniveling villain and blows him away.
03:55How's that for granting a wish, Shenron?
04:08Number 7 Goku Plays Tambourine
04:26Death might be a day trip for Dragon Ball now, but back in the original series, it was a
04:31big deal.
04:32After Krillin is murdered, Goku is eager to find the culprit.
04:36His search leads him to King Piccolo's son Tambourine.
04:40Unfortunately, he's still tired from a tournament fight and he loses his initial fight with the
04:45mutant Namekian.
04:46Once he's regained his strength, Goku has a rematch with the Winged Fiend.
04:58The young Saiyan overwhelms his best friend's killer, leaving Tambourine in a panic when
05:03he realizes he's outclassed.
05:05With some creative use of the power pole, Goku gets the height needed to vaporize him
05:10with a Kamehameha, a fitting way to take revenge for another disciple of Roshi.
05:26Number 6 Trunks Slices Fused Zamasu
05:38Goku Black, and by extension, his original incarnation, Zamasu, makes plenty of enemies during his slash-
05:45their time in Dragon Ball Super.
05:48He manages to anger Goku and Vegeta by killing their loved ones in the future timeline, but
05:54it's Trunks who they've angered the most.
05:56The guy's timeline was already devastated, more on that later, but then Black had to go
06:01and kill even more people, including Trunks' mom Bulma.
06:05It's fitting, then, that Trunks is the one to finally defeat him.
06:14After Black and future Zamasu fuse together, Trunks gathers Ki into his sword from everyone
06:19on Earth, using the resulting technique to cut the monstrous fusion in two, and putting
06:25an end to fuse Zamasu for good, mostly.
06:28I don't give a damn about you, or you're soaked on justice!
06:34But how?
06:35It can't be!
06:40Number 5 Vegeta's Gold Rush
06:52Frieza has beef with basically everybody in Dragon Ball, but Vegeta's vendetta has lasted
06:58the longest.
06:59The alien overlord killed almost all of the Saiyans after all, including their king, Vegeta's
07:05father, and destroyed their planet, which was confusingly also called Vegeta.
07:10So, when Goku lets his guard down and fails to defeat Frieza, Vegeta's stepping in is
07:16karmic justice.
07:29Vegeta goes Super Saiyan Blue and delivers a beatdown to the tyrant he's no doubt fantasized
07:35about for years.
07:36Frieza's taunts about Vegeta's lack of subjects only make the beating happen faster.
07:42The prince may not get to kill Frieza, because he's a sore loser and decides to blow up the
07:46planet, but at least Vegeta got some long overdue revenge.
08:03Goku cuts through the Red Ribbon Army
08:14Defeating Tao Pai Pai is just the beginning of Goku's vengeance, since the mercenary was hired
08:19by the Red Ribbon Army, who are after the Dragon Balls.
08:22To resurrect Bora, Goku decides to take the rest of the balls from the army by himself.
08:28The little kid storms their headquarters, taking down helicopters and dodging missiles.
08:33He then cuts through most of Commander Red's men like they're actually made of ribbons.
08:45Even the surprisingly skilled Staff Officer Black is no match for him, even with a battlesuit.
08:52By the time he leaves, the Red Ribbon Army base is abandoned and partially destroyed.
08:57Goku's friends may be surprised he soloed an entire army, but viewers know he'd do anything
09:02to avenge and save somebody close to him.
09:103.
09:12Gohan Crushes Cell Like father, like son, right?
09:26After Perfect Cell uses his children to beat all of Gohan's friends and family and kills
09:32Android 16 in front of him, the young half Saiyan is pushed over the edge and goes Super
09:37Saiyan 2.
09:38Gohan tears through the Cell Juniors easily, often in one hit.
09:42He then makes Cell look less than perfect, humiliating the cyborg bug in only a few punches.
09:54Gohan even knocks the perfection out of Cell, having him at his mercy.
09:59Unfortunately, he doesn't finish him off right there.
10:02Long story short, more people die.
10:04Still, Gohan is ultimately successful and defeats Cell for good, avenging not only his father
10:10and friends, but countless other people Cell killed and absorbed too.
10:252.
10:26Trunks Kills the Future Androids
10:35The timeline Future Trunks comes from is truly the worst timeline.
10:40This version of events saw the death of most of the Z fighters at the hands of Android 17
10:45and 18.
10:47Gohan's death was especially personal for Trunks, since it was his own trigger for becoming
10:52Super Saiyan and his motivation to go back to the past.
10:55Then, after training with his dad and going through the entire Cell saga, Trunks goes back
11:00to his timeline, powered up and ready for revenge.
11:16He quickly kills Android 18 and then, after lambasting 17 for he and his sister's selfish
11:22tyranny finishes him off as well.
11:25Watching him avenge the deaths of his friends and family by killing the future versions of
11:29the androids is immensely satisfying and really illustrates how far he's come.

11:56Goku's Super Saiyan Revenge
12:05Going Super Saiyan out of anger is a time-honored tradition, and it begins with Goku.
12:12While on Namek, Krillin gets killed, again, by Frieza.
12:15And Goku's fury over the death of his bestie is no less than it was when they were kids.
12:21If anything, it's even greater.
12:23Seeing Krillin blown to bits in front of him pushes Goku to turn Super Saiyan.
12:28He then proceeds to give the Alien Emperor the beating of his life.
12:38While their fight isn't entirely one-sided, it's still immensely gratifying to see Goku's
12:43newfound power used to literally slap around Frieza.
12:47He treats the man who's been terrorizing and killing his friends, not to mention the
12:51man who basically killed Goku's entire race, like a chump.
12:55Frieza might survive, for now, but the psychological and physical scars will haunt him for years
13:01to come.
13:10Is there a moment of Dragon Ball Retribution we forgot?
