00:27Yeah, dude, I know that life.
00:30Um, I'm curious, you were texting us after the Philly game.
00:35Do you feel like the commanders are back in the NFC East race?
00:42I do.
00:43I do.
00:43And, and, and, you know, not because they're coming off of some electric performance.
00:48I think, I think our, I think our text after Philly, we were all kind of on the same page
00:54of, I'll take it.
00:55Um, not, not a great, not a great performance, but you know, one thing I've learned about
01:02this team, and this is sort of the unfortunate thing about being a good, a pretty talented,
01:08good team, but not a great team.
01:10You're going to play to your competition and it gives you a chance against the best
01:15teams.
01:16And it also makes things take a little bit too long against the worst teams.
01:20And I think that's what we saw on Sunday.
01:23Um, and again, I don't think that's a great day for Dan Quinn, because I don't know how
01:28you guys feel.
01:29And maybe this is lazy sort of sports media guy thing to say, but I think a team that
01:35so often comes out flat, I, I, I end up looking at coaching and that was a game where they
01:40just came out, you know, making silly mistakes, um, you know, multiple offensive penalties
01:46to back them up those first couple of drives and they put themselves behind the eight ball.
01:50But then what you love about this team and what you love about Jaden Daniels is that when,
01:55when things, when the chips get down is when he starts to really ball.
01:58So, you know, they did the things that drove you crazy early on and then they showed you
02:02why they could be a competitive team.
02:05But guys, my, my feeling all week has been they are, I, I am like, I've never been more
02:12confident that they will play a tight game, um, and have a chance to win this Sunday.
02:18And if you do that, you head into next Thursday night with Giants fans holding their breath,
02:23in my opinion.
02:25Yeah.
02:25I think it like, like, yeah, it goes into coaching when it first starts and you see
02:31it and then once the coach brings attention to it and he discusses it and he brings it
02:35to them, players got to start doing that too.
02:37Just like Jaden put them to the side and motivated everybody on the sideline, come out the locker
02:42room like that.
02:44You know, this is, I always tell people it's professional sports.
02:47This is not college, not high school.
02:49And these players get paid to play ball.
02:51They know how to get paid in college too now, but they have to be able to get together and
02:55say, you know what, man, let's hit the ground running.
02:58You're right.
02:59Yeah.
02:59That is, that's completely fair.
03:01Like everyone, everyone in that locker room knew exactly how big a game last week was.
03:08They knew if we lose this game, our season's effectively over.
03:11They all knew that and they still spotted them, you know, 10 points and listen, one is
03:16that fumble, obviously early on that, that's, that's a, these things happen.
03:21But yeah, you're right.
03:22Be Mitch.
03:22I mean, eventually, listen, it's easy for me to point at Dan Quinn, but these guys know
03:26the deal.
03:27Like, are you going to man up or what?
03:28Yeah.
03:29So with the Rams coming to town, this is a different level of opponent.
03:35How, how do you feel going into this game?
03:37Um, because I, I keep getting asked, can they win?
03:40And I say, yeah, they can definitely win.
03:41They beat Seattle when they came here, they can absolutely beat the Rams, but they've got
03:46to put together a complete game.
03:47And we haven't seen one of those since the Seattle game.
03:51That, that, that's the whole story, bro.
03:53I mean, that is literally what this team is.
03:54Can you, can you put together a complete 60 minutes if they do, you know, and also, I
04:01mean, listen, it's going to require, um, the old line giving Jaden more time than he
04:07got against San Francisco.
04:08You know, I mean, that was just an unreasonable, you know, considering, considering we had
04:13entire think pieces about why can't Jaden push the ball down the field.
04:16And it's like, well, when you have the ball for a second and a half, it's kind of, no
04:19one's even down the field yet.
04:20So it's, you've got to give him a chance and that's going to be on the old line.
04:25And, and also guys, I think that's a big test for David Blau this weekend.
04:30Like, can you scheme up a game offensively that can simultaneously keep Jaden safe, um,
04:37while also being effective and moving the football?
04:39So I 100% expect them to compete in this game.
04:43I really love what we've seen since getting Amos back.
04:46I mean, I think football is such an insane sport.
04:48You guys both know it much better than me.
04:50I do not understand how like two years ago, I could be so excited about Mikey Sanders still.
04:55And now he's a special teams player who appeared to be a liability when he was in there.
04:59But this, but this defense looks a lot better now with Amos, obviously in sunny styles, it
05:03seems like, you know, you don't want to get ahead of yourself guys, but it seems like
05:06we found our next true stud on defense.
05:09And so why not?
05:10I, I, you look at the, you look at the second half they played against, if you, if you add
05:16up the first half against the Giants, the second half against San Francisco and the final three
05:21quarters against Philadelphia, you feel like for the most part, they're playing good football.
05:26Can they put it together from beginning to end on Sunday?
05:30I would love to see them challenge each other to get to like what you just stated, play like
05:34you played in those moments and see what you could be.
05:37If you play like that and you happen to lose a game, I think you'll have more respect from
05:42fans than if you go out there and you spot two quarters, then you come out and play the
05:46last and lose the game.
05:48Well, I think about it like this.
05:49I mean, if they play a great game on Sunday and let's just say the Rams have, have found
05:54themselves, which is still kind of unclear, but let's say the Rams have found themselves
05:58and they just win and they beat, you know, they beat the commanders 27, 24.
06:02And it's a really good football game.
06:04Listen, your season's not over.
06:05We know how bad this division is.
06:06You're going to play the Giants the following Thursday.
06:09And in my opinion, then your season would be on the line again.
06:11Right.
06:12But it's not over if you lose an out of division game to the Rams, but the upside guy, I
06:18think
06:18we would all agree, right?
06:20If they win the next two games in a row, we're all starting to look at each other and say,
06:24Hey, can we have a real season or what?
06:25Yeah.
06:26If you're able to win this one, the momentum and the excitement that builds for a Thursday
06:30night divisional matchup where you could be playing for first place becomes pretty
06:35massive.
06:35Right.
06:35But if they lose the, like last week against Philly, true must win Thursday night against
06:41the Giants, true must win this one.
06:43You'd sure as hell like to win it.
06:45And there is a difference.
06:48Yeah.
06:48A hundred, a hundred percent.
06:50And I, listen, I'm not going to kill them if they don't, but I got to tell you, I expect
06:54them to be in this game.
06:55And, you know, I really think Jaden has been so good at just dealing with the conversation
07:02around him.
07:03And, you know, I was having a conversation with a friend yesterday.
07:06He's so level-headed, such a pro.
07:08I don't, you guys feel like, you know, he knows, he knows who he is and he knows that
07:15the conversation that's out there, I don't even know how wary of it, but the ones that
07:19we see, I think if he were to hear that, he knows that it's silly.
07:23To me, what I've realized is the national media was so fixated on that final play against
07:31the Giants, right?
07:32That play was so, it was such chum for the media.
07:37They loved, and I get it, by the way, it was a fun thing to discuss.
07:40I'm not knocking anyone who says, hey, did you see the end of that game?
07:44I get it.
07:45But that now has shaped the conversation around Jaden to a degree where he needs to really
07:51ball out the rest of the season to make people forget and remember who he really is.
07:55And I think Sunday would go a long way in that direction.
07:57All right, question I have for you, Peter.
07:59NFL trade deadline's coming Tuesday.
08:01It's already been pretty hot.
08:03Jacoby Brissett got traded, Quentin Nelson, DeForest Buckner.
08:07It seems like there's going to be a lot more trades by Tuesday, 4 p.m. Eastern.
08:12Do you think Washington should be active one way or the other?
08:16And how much does Sunday's outcome impact that?
08:21Man, it's hard to have Sundays, for all the reasons we just discussed, how much should
08:25Sunday affect it?
08:27I mean, to me, if you win that game and you feel you have a chance at the division, that
08:33doesn't move me in terms of, like, thinking about we must win now.
08:37The only conversation I'm having, and by the way, this is the same conversation that we
08:42were having on my show about the Giants.
08:45The only conversation teams like the Giants and Commanders should be having this year
08:49is, what can we do that would be cool to help us this year, but will continue to help
08:55us next year?
08:55I think we're being foolish if we were to say, hey, whatever we got to do now, we have
09:00a chance.
09:01I don't think this is that year.
09:03I think that's an unrealistic thing to do.
09:05But if you could, let's say there's someone who makes sense for you who has a year or two
09:09left on their deal.
09:11Absolutely.
09:12As far as, like, unloading?
09:14No, I don't think losing this game in a division that you'd still be in should affect
09:18you unloading pieces as if this year is over.
09:20I wouldn't see it that way.
09:21Yeah, I'm with you on that, Pete, where if somebody comes in, they're not going to be
09:25a rental.
09:26They need to be somebody you're going to have two years.
09:28You know, Brian Thomas Jr.
09:30Yeah.
09:31We're not the Vikings.
09:33Right.
09:34You know what I mean?
09:34Like, there are teams out there going, oh my God, we have a chance to win it this year.
09:39This is our year.
09:39How do we get this record?
09:40Let's take advantage.
09:41We got to compete with the rest of the NFC North, which is all beast.
09:44We got to, that's not where we're at.
09:46We're trying to, we're trying to somehow win a horrible division and get a playoff game.
09:50Like, let's think about the next two years.
09:54That's where my mindset is.
09:56Peter, thank you for the time, brother.
09:57Always appreciate it.
09:58I'm sure we'll text Sunday probably around 4.30.
10:02I know.
10:02I hope it's an early one.
10:03I hope it's a feel-good early one.
10:05I have a good feeling, guys.
10:05Yeah, we're going to be texting shots.
10:08Exactly right.
10:09Exactly right.
10:10All right, boys.
10:10That's our guy, Peter Rosenberg.
10:11I'll be taking him.
10:12At Rosenberg Radio, if you want to give him a follow on social.
10:16Huge, Commanders.
