00:00If it took three hours plus to reach the Bengaluru Airport, the Kempe Gauda International Airport from the city before,
00:08brace yourself because it's now in all likelihood going to take even longer.
00:12An 18-month traffic diversion has been announced by authorities, which will essentially mean an absolute traffic nightmare.
00:20If it wasn't bad enough as it is, this diversion is the result of a new four-lane corridor that's
00:25being built.
00:26And so the one road that connects the city to the airport, the Ballari Road, is now going to be
00:30a no-go zone for buses, goods, vehicles.
00:33Cars can still use the stretch, but with construction.
00:35And if you know Bengaluru, you know this is a disaster waiting to happen.
00:39But here's why everyone's upset.
00:41It's good that yes, a four-lane corridor is being built, but the timing couldn't be worse.
00:47This project should have been pushed till the metro was functional to the airport
00:52because that would have given commuters another option and ease up traffic on that stretch.
00:56Secondly, the fact that these projects have never, ever been completed on time in Bengaluru,
01:02the Yelahankar flyover, the Ijipura flyover, I can go on and on with a long list of projects
01:07that have never been completed within the stipulated time frame in the city.
01:12The Bangalore Development Authority, the BDA, has some serious answering to do here.
01:16But with these diversions already being announced, ensure you plan your travel,
01:20watch out for all those diversions and optional routes,
01:23maybe even start a day before your flight to make it in time.
