00:06It is sparked by a rejection of Trump and of the Republican Party. It turns out that it's
00:14deeply unpopular to have high tariffs, high gas prices, and armed squads kidnapping your
00:22neighbors off the street. That said, I do think that the primary election showed us that Democrats
00:29who are progressive are, and not just progressive, but who are willing to fight specifically are the
00:36ones who win. And I think that what you are seeing is not just the voters saying no more Trump,
00:44but also we need to repair the country and hold people accountable and get the country back on
00:54track. Well, you've called, I think, for impeachments and investigations. I wonder if
00:59that approach might perhaps backfire and simply prevent the Democrats from delivering for voters
01:07who have high expectations now. I mean, I think one of the things that voters want is accountability.
01:15The rule of law has been run roughshod across the country, and numerous financial crimes and other
01:25things need to be investigated. I think that impeachment should be the start of what we talk
01:31about. And I think that it is something that voters are clearly interested in. I think it's a mistake for
01:39Democratic leadership to ignore that. And I think it's also a mistake to think that the existing
01:48leadership of Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries can just wave a magic wand of bipartisanship and
01:54everything will go away. I think it's really time to have political accountability and to have a new day
02:01of political reforms in order to stop this kind of lawlessness.
02:06We've just heard Mr. Trump earlier in the program talking about the Iran war's influence on these results.
02:12What should the Democrats do now about Mr. Trump's foreign policy?
02:18Well, within their powers, Congress controls the power of the purse and can put a stop to as much as
02:25they can. The illegal war that is happening in Iran, as well as the illegal boat murders that are
02:36happening throughout the Pacific and Atlantic Ocean. I think that, you know, Congress is the only one
02:42with the power to actually declare war. I think it's that time for Congress to actually reassert its
02:48constitutional powers and act as a co-equal branch of government. It is not subservient to the
02:53president. The courts are not subservient to the president. And Congress is the one place where
02:58that leverage can take place and begin to turn things around.
