A political dispute has surfaced within the Congress-Samajwadi Party alliance ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections over seat-sharing arrangements. Uttar Pradesh Congress in-charge Rajendra Pal Gautam asserted that Congress must receive equal respect and an equal share, stating, "Idea of India Congress ka aur jitna bhi aap modern India dekh rahe hain wo Congress ki den hai." While Congress is pushing for 200 assembly seats, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has maintained that seat distribution should follow a winnability formula focused solely on defeating the BJP.

00:03Well, it seems that Congress and SP are at it again.
00:08All doesn't seem well within their alliance as once again they're wittling over the seat-sharing formula.
00:16This entire controversy is heating up now as Congress now seems to be demanding 200 seats for Uttar Pradesh election
00:252027.
00:26Remember earlier we had heard the state president saying that they want 150 but now Congress seems to be saying
00:34that they want an equal share.
00:36So clearly this is putting the alliance under stress as UP Congress is pushing for a bigger share.
00:43They're asking for equal share in Uttar Pradesh as the UP Congress in charge says there should be equality in
00:51alliance.
01:17And joining us now is India today's Santosh Sarma.

01:32One side is saying that we have to fight together.
01:36And in this case we don't see how many seats are in the seat and the other side is in
01:41the position of this situation.
01:43The issue is that Congress is more than the seat sharing of its seat and its authority to be able
01:51to fight in Uttar Pradesh.
01:53The reality of the world is that the Congress has only two candidates with their candidates.
02:01One is the State Department and the other is within the seat.
02:03The third is not the candidate.
02:05We have 200 seats, only one pressure tactic that we have said.
02:11We have already said that in order to win the formula,
02:18which is where we will win, we will give it the same seat.
02:22We need to win the BJP.
