power read, and the most powerful person in the first act is the one who says nothing.

In EP 2 Alistair asks Queen Isolde to hide his identity and keep the sacrifice secret. She agrees. A crown that could end the whole thing in one sentence chooses silence.

Because the arrangement works. A realm needs a sacrifice, a house needs a scapegoat, and one boy is cheaper than either. She is not cruel. She runs a system with a slot in it.

So the family is not the whole machine. The other part is a throne that watched him leave and said nothing.

✨ What worked for me:
- The Queen is kind to him. That is what makes it worse.
- She rewards him with clothes, not with the truth.

✨ Bottom line: a crown can protect you by staying quiet, and it chose not to.

Does the Queen owe him anything?
