00:15Gavonor, you found your way to Egyptus.
00:19I must say, navigating this province's customs was even harsher than the sun.
00:25How?
00:25Well, where others merely see sand, the Emperor sees golden opportunity.
00:32He has entrusted you with governing the Empire's bread basket.
00:37Out here, the desert is your ocean, but your true journey begins where the water flows.
00:44The valleys of Egyptus offer an entirely new terrain to cultivate.
00:49Your greatest ally and your most demanding master is the Nile itself.
00:56The flood can be a terrifying force, yet it leaves behind the most fertile soil.
01:03Make sure your granary is filled to get through harsh droughts and river floods.
01:10Use the Nile's water to your benefit.
01:14Egyptian irrigation canals lead it towards your fields.
01:18Or force its way upwards into the aqueducts with Greco-Roman engineered norries.
01:26Master the Nile's rhythm, and the goods of Egyptus will soon be in demand, even in the distant province of
01:35Albion.
01:36Your first residents, the Threshes, are happy with palm dates and oat porridge, but to succeed here, you must master
01:46a delicate dance between cultures.
01:48While your Greco-Roman administrators prefer to stay amongst their peers and favor the Empire's luxuries like ivory caskets,
01:57the local Egyptians hold on to their roots, wearing color series and seeking the stars in the observatory.
02:05Embrace their beliefs, let them honor deities like Sobek to boost productivity and water supply,
02:13while worshiping Bastet will lead to vigorously blooming lavender and lotus tea.
02:20But remember, Rome is a melting pot which needs to be in balance.
02:26Favoring the Egyptian ways too strongly sends ripples to the wider world, and you will fuel the anger of rivals
02:33like Decimus.
02:36Of course, a wealthy province draws envious eyes.
02:40Unlock new technologies and military power to secure your borders against raiders like Candace of Kashtar.
02:48Command magnificent new ships uniquely adapted to these shallow waters, but seaworthy enough to sail anywhere in your Empire.
02:59Connect your provinces to established trade routes, and watch the wealth flow into Rome.
03:06As the pinnacle of your grandeur, a successful governor leaves a legacy.
03:14Carve your dominion in stone and restore the ancient pyramids as a soaring monument built in Rome's honor.
03:22The sons of Egyptus hold new stories, new allies, and perhaps a few challengers eager to test you, governor.
03:33Balance two proud cultures, master the Nihil's temper, and provide for all reaches of the Empire.
03:41The Empire!
03:42The Empire!
03:44The Empire!
