00:00Attacks and council attacks coming in abundance as we speak.
00:05Now, Prime Minister Modi this time, in fact, has come out to slam the Congress
00:09while hailing India's metro infrastructure.
00:13What has the Prime Minister said?
00:14He's attacked the UP-era metro project and said,
00:17before 2014, Pune metro would take decades.
00:222014, India had 248 kilometers of metro lines in five cities,
00:27across five cities, that is.
00:28Today, we have 1,200 kilometers of metro stretching across 26 cities, that is.
00:37One crore people travel by the metro every day.
00:41This is his latest jibe that he's taken at the Congress.
00:45As we were mentioning towards the beginning as well,
00:49be it the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, be it the Prime Minister himself,
00:54attacks have been a galore against the opposition
00:58because the opposition has been coming up with different campaigns, rallies and their own narratives
01:04with regards to what's wrong with the governance that the country has seen for the last 12 years.
01:09And on the other end, we do see a report card of sorts that we keep getting from the representatives,
01:17be it from the Prime Minister himself or his cabinet members that keep being put out there.
01:21With regards to the comparing, what was done pre-2040 and what is the situation now, sector by sector that
01:30is.
01:30In this case, the focus is on the metro lines.
01:33What he has said is that just 248 kilometers, roughly that was the stretch of metro lines that were present
01:38under the UK regime before 2014.
01:41But now, as of 2026, that's not just doubled, but it's gone up to 1,200 kilometers across several cities,
01:49that is.
01:49Let me bring in Piyush Mishra, joining us on the broadcast with Modi.
01:52Here's Piyush.
01:54This is the latest flashpoint that we see, the attack that's been launched by the Prime Minister at the opposition
02:00with regards to the metro lines and the development that the sector has seen after 2014.
02:10So, directly asking a big question, if India's metro network had continued expanding at the pace it did before 2014,
02:21how long would the wait be for cities like Pune to have a metro?
02:25So, this is the question which the Prime Minister is asking.
02:28If that had been taking place in the pace it was happening before 2014, then what would have been the
02:34situation?
02:34Yes, and...
02:44Right, we'll get that connection reworked with Piyush.
02:48But yes, that's what he was also referring to, the very comment that's been made by the Prime Minister.
02:54He said that today, there are one crore people that travel by metro across cities.
03:01And we've seen the kind of development that the metro line has, in fact, witnessed over the past years,
03:08especially when we're speaking of cities, upcoming cities, not just the metro cities that already exist,
03:13but several others around those metro cities which are also coming up to become very crucial,
03:19be it educational cities and towns or, for that matter, towns and cities upcoming in the sector of jobs to
03:27be provided to people.
03:28So, these cities require public transport and while, yes, road connectivity is there,
03:34but metro has really eased the situation on the roads in cases like if we see in the national capital
03:40itself,
03:41or as he has come out to site in Pune as well during the very launch of this particular line.
03:46Let me take this back to Piyush.
03:48Piyush, please continue your thoughts there.
03:55Well, that's nice, Sriya. It's a big attack coming in from PM Narendra Modi.
03:58He's asking about the kind of pace which the country witnessed in 2014.
04:04And he's making some good comparison what has happened after 2014.
04:08He's also saying that had the development been taking in the same pace as it was happening before 2014,
04:15then cities like Pune would have seen decades to see a metro in their city.
04:21You would remember that yesterday itself, PM Narendra Modi had inaugurated a metro line there in the city of Pune.
04:28And today he has put out this big question where he says, and I quote,
04:31if India's metro network had continued expanding at the pace it did before 2014,
04:37how long would the wait be for cities like Pune to have a metro?
04:40Yes, no, decades perhaps.
04:42So it's a big attack on the UPA government, on the previous governments of Congress,
04:47where he's saying that had it been taking like it was happening before 2014,
04:52then it would have taken decades to have a metro in Pune.
04:56PM Narendra Modi is also giving up proper data where he says,
04:59In 2014, India had just 248 km of metro lines across 5 cities.
05:04Today we have nearly 1,200 km across 26 cities.
05:08Over 1 crore people travel by metro every day.
05:11The impact goes beyond statistics or numbers.
05:14It means less time in traffic, more family time, greater productivity and better opportunities.
05:20So PM Narendra Modi is basically talking about how 1,200 km of metro network has been expanded in around
05:2526 cities
05:27after Modi government has taken over.
05:30So he's basically talking about how the development has taken place,
05:33how the connectivity has been given in various cities of the country.
05:36But before 2014, this connectivity was not there.
05:41Remains to be seen, Shreya, how the opposition is going to react on this.
05:44But we have also seen how after 2014, Modi government has worked on not only on metro connectivity,
05:51but also on highways connectivity, train connectivity.
05:54We are now seeing technologically advanced Indian railways.
05:58One day Bharat sleeper train was recently inaugurated.
06:01Connectivity from Banaras to Delhi was inaugurated.
06:04So there's been a major boost in connectivity, be it across metro lines, railways or even for that matter road
06:12connectivity
06:13that has seen a boost in the last 12 years in the country itself.
06:17And that's what the Prime Minister has come out to reference.
06:20Piyush, just stay back with us.
