coffee's poured, and here's the small thing in Their Brother, the Dragon Sacrifice that undid me, and it's a coat.
After he's gone, there's a coat on a hook by the door. His. Not a nice one — thin, worn at the elbow, the kind you keep because it's the only one you have.
It stays on that hook. For episodes. Nobody throws it out, nobody moves it, and nobody wears it.
And the show does something quietly devastating: it keeps framing the doorway so the coat is in shot while the family walks past it. Eleven times, by my count. Never mentioned once.
It's the only thing in that house that's waiting for him.
✨ What worked for me:
- No close-up. It's just always in the frame.
- In the last episode, it's gone. No explanation.
✨ Bottom line: a family drama that says everything with one hanger.
What's still hanging in your hallway?
