U.S. President Donald Trump acknowledged that the war in Iran played a role in Republicans' losses in Tuesday's (Nov 3) midterm elections, as Democrats prepared to take control of both the US House and Senate and challenge his legislative agenda.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump said Democrats would send legislation he considered "insane" to his desk and that he would veto it.

00:00I think a part of it was Iran, but at the same time, people understood the importance of what I've
00:04done with Iran.
00:05I think historically it's going to be much more important than this evening, because you can't let the number one
00:12state sponsor of terror have a nuclear weapon.
00:14You know, it's the most dangerous country in the world, and we wiped them out, practically.
00:19It's been done before, as you know, numerous times, and it's a power of veto.
00:24It's one of the stronger powers that a president has, and they'll send over things that are insane, and I'll
00:30veto them.
00:31And after a couple of months of vetoes, they'll call, and they'll say, how do we get this stuff done?
00:37And we'll work together.
00:38I have a lot of friends that are Democrats, believe it or not.
00:41And I think the Democrats did a good job.
00:45I really do.
00:46I think they did a good job.
00:47They fought hard.
00:48They were, you know, they've been fighting for a long time.
00:51They've been fighting me for a long time.
00:53This fight's been going on for ages.
00:56You know, I started, and really, if you look at it, I've been doing it for 12 years with them,
01:02and I've come up on top all the time.
01:05And I wasn't on the ballot.
01:07If I was on the ballot, they would have gotten out.
01:09Look, they got out for the rallies.
01:10You never saw rallies that big.
01:12I mean, outside of the rallies I have when I have, you know, the general election, which is, you know,
01:18a step above, in all fairness, like maybe a few steps above.
01:23But outside of that, I mean, these were the biggest rallies ever.
01:27Nobody's ever seen anything like it.
01:29So I'm a little bit surprised.
01:30I thought that I could transfer those people into candidates.
01:35But maybe in certain cases, you know, don't forget, we had a lot of candidates that did win also.
01:39But in certain cases, they didn't win.
01:42I felt badly about Darlene.
01:44I felt very badly.
01:45She's going through, you know, her relationship with Lindsey was extraordinary.
01:49It's just essentially mourning and campaigning at the same time.
01:53And then on top of it, this happens.
01:56But I'm a little surprised.
01:57I thought they'd do better.
01:59Thanks.
02:00Thanks.
02:00Thanks.
