00:00La big moment, we are going to project that the Senate will go to the Democrats.
00:05We can project that the Democrats have retaken control of the United States Senate
00:11on the back of a win that we are about to project in the state of Iowa.
00:17Josh Turek has managed to take the state of Iowa.
00:23Ashley Hinson going down to defeat, again, another of these races in the heartland
00:29that were unthinkable a year ago, ruby red, Trump double-digit states now going to the Democrats.
00:37The Democrats have accomplished control of the United States Senate,
00:40and we haven't even gotten, Tom, to the states that they are incumbent in, the blue states.
00:45We haven't finished counting there.
00:47And speaking of Josh Turek, when I interviewed him, he said compromise is not a bad word for me.
00:52He went to the border. He shot a video campaign ad saying that we do need stronger border security.
00:57He said he would work with Republicans. He's a gold medalist, Paralympian, and he's going to the Senate.
01:02He's flipped that state, which, again, is historic.
01:05A Democrat is going to go from a very red state like Iowa, and now we know the Democrats have
01:10control of the Senate tonight.
01:11And again, it's not super early, but it's pretty early in the night, Savannah.
01:15So what this is showing to us, and I don't know if we're at the shellacking point yet that sometimes
01:19politicians like to use,
01:21but, Steve, what you're seeing, though, seems to be a shellacking for Republicans and just people rejecting Trump policies across
01:27the country right now.
01:28This is comprehensive.
01:30I mean, again, the whole question coming in on the Senate at the start of the year, I mean, we
01:34said it a million times,
01:35was like the Democrats were only going to win the Senate if they could get into some seriously deeply red
01:41territory.
01:42You know, states, multiple states that Trump won by double digits, and that's what they've done.
01:46Iowa is, I mean, there it is again.
01:48Iowa is a state that Trump won by 13 points.
01:51South Carolina is a state that Trump won by 18 points.
01:54Kansas is a state Trump won by 17 points.
01:57Texas, so they're winning across the board almost in these double-digit Trump states that were contested.
02:03And again, there's a breadth to it here in Iowa.
02:06Like I was saying, Turek is doing better in some of these western Iowa places that you never really talk
02:11about a Democrat doing anything in,
02:13especially in a statewide race like this.
02:15He's got just huge, huge numbers and turnout in Polk County, the suburbs there right outside Des Moines,
02:23certainly in Iowa City, you know, Johnson County where the University of Iowa is.
02:28And then, like I said, you see it here.
02:31I just thought this one was striking, Davenport along the Mississippi River,
02:34because this was a county back in 2016 when Trump got that unexpected win in Iowa across the Midwest.
02:41And nationally, this was one of those counties you looked at that night and said, wow, you know,
02:45Trump was Trump was doing something here that Republicans hadn't done before.
02:49He was winning over these working class voters who'd been Democratic.
02:52And tonight here in this county, they're going back to the Democrats.
02:55All right, Steve, stand by there.
02:57A big moment here where we have just projected that Democrats have taken control of the United States Congress.
03:02come January will be both the House and the Senate controlled by the Democrats.
