Operations across Andhra Pradesh have faced major disruptions as Cyclone Murzu approaches the coastline, bringing strong winds forecast to reach up to 120 kilometres per hour. At least 19 domestic flights, including Indigo and Air India Express services, were cancelled across Vijayawada, Tirupati, and Visakhapatnam airports. Rail services across affected coastal stretches have also been suspended as a precautionary step. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is monitoring the ground situation and has sought assistance and additional manpower from neighbouring states, including Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Karnataka, to aid in post-landfall restoration work over the next 24 to 48 hours. Vulnerable coastal districts including Nellore, Ongole, and Bapatla remain on high alert with standard operating procedures activated. Authorities and emergency response machinery are focused on minimising losses to life and infrastructure, advising residents in low-lying areas to stay indoors and adhere to government safety guidelines.

00:00There's more information that's trickling in with regards to Cyclone Mursu.
00:05Let's bring our viewers up to speed with that.
00:07Eight Indigo flight services connecting Vijayawada are listed as cancelled for November the 3rd due to Cyclone Mursu.
00:16That's what we're getting to know at this point in time.
00:19At least 19 domestic flights were cancelled at Vijayawada, Terupati and Vishaka Patnam airports in Andhra Pradesh today.
00:26Of these Indigo flights that were cancelled were 10 and there were two Air India Express flights that were cancelled
00:34at the Vijayawada airport.
00:38Going back to my colleague Apoorva for more.
00:41Apoorva, we just told our viewers about how services have been hit but this was all about things in the
00:47air.
00:48Tell us about the status of the rail services, how many trains were affected as a result and what other
00:59measures have been taken on the ground or services that have been compromised as a result of the incoming Cyclone.
01:10On the ground as well there have been precautionary measures that have been taken because much like Cyclone Mursu which
01:17we saw the devastating effects wherein several crops were damaged apart from the crops that were damaged we also saw
01:23the electrical pole lines that had major connectivity issues because of the trees that were strewn across just by the
01:30force of the winds that were lashing across the southern belt as well.
01:34And even right now with Mursu, you know, you were just telling me a couple of minutes ago to stay
01:40on but trust me, Hashir, I am trying with the winds that are, you know, have already started with the
01:46force of the winds over here.
01:48The IMD is predicting that these winds will be going on up to 120 kilometers per hour as the landfall
01:54and the eye of the storm crosses across and reaches to the coastline here in Andhra Pradesh as well.
01:59So, when we look into the measures that are being taken by the government as well, you know, several, you
02:05know, rails have also been suspended in these regions.
02:09The Andhra Pradesh government has also sought help from neighboring southern states, be it Tamil Nadu as well as Telangana
02:16and now Karnataka as well, you know, asking for coordination that will help them in the upcoming days.
02:22In the next 24 to 48 hours, we will be noticing that there are several people who have been deployed.
02:28Additional manpower that has been deployed, be it from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka or even from Telangana as well.
02:34In Cyclone Ornab, we also saw that, you know, several people help was called in from the neighboring state, the
02:41neighboring Telugu state of Telangana,
02:43where in several people were brought in for restoring of the telephone lines and telephonic poles like I had mentioned
02:51earlier.
02:52And now we are seeing from, you know, from Karnataka as well as from Tamil Nadu,
02:56the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Narachandra Prabhupada, who has reached out to these chief ministers as well
03:02and requested that additional help, additional manpower be deployed in these regions so that over the next 24 to 48
03:10hours,
03:10it is going to be, you know, as chaotic as it is going to be with the landfall of this
03:16cyclone Murusuk,
03:17that help is at hand and nearby and that things can be attempted to be restored back to a novel
03:24at the earliest.
03:25Apoorva, you've been, you know, around the coastal belt for nearly a week now,
03:30first covering Cyclone Ornab and now this one for us.
03:35Tell me in your, you know, presence on the ground, of your being on the ground,
03:39especially over the last three to four days, in terms of the preparation for this cyclone,
03:48again, the authorities have had very less time to recuperate from the first cyclone.
03:52Now, they're managing, if they're having to deal with a second cyclone,
03:56how do you see the preparation for this particular cyclone?
04:00Are you satisfied with the way the authorities have responded
04:03and perhaps are they better prepared for this cyclone?
04:11Well, in fact, if I should mention, you know, the authorities,
04:15be it for Cyclone Ornab or for Cyclone Murusuk that we are experiencing right now,
04:20the public as well as the state machinery has been extremely going ahead
04:27and been prepared with what can be only stated that the next couple of days,
04:32even as the state is trying to bounce back, it will be a difficult time,
04:36but that there is enough, you know, help that is available at hand.
04:40In fact, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Narachandra Babu Nairu,
04:44has been completely monitoring the situation over the last one week.
04:48In fact, this particular area, this coastal region of Nellore, Ongol,
04:54well up to Bapatla as well, these are already, you know, time and time again,
04:58these are cyclone-affected regions.
05:00And in fact, the public here also know there's a standard SOP that is set in place
05:04ahead of, you know, cyclones that affect this area quite often.
05:09So, which is why when it comes to the state ministry, they are well equipped to see and
05:14handle what will be, you know, the next step of action after the landfall, post-landfall,
05:19what needs to be done at the earliest.
05:21So, in that way, even with Cyclone Ornab, which was completely devastating the coastal regions
05:27of Andhra Pradesh, you know, we were there on ground, we were seeing the kind of debris out there.
05:32What was once a very rich, green countryside of Konasima and nearby districts, Amalapuram
05:39and nearby districts as well, completely were left with the roads being strewn by tall, healthy,
05:46you know, trees that were completely uprooted and just left to be strewn across on the roads.
05:51And that was the effect of Cyclone Ornab that we had seen, the devastation that had taken place.
05:56And it looks like, just by these winds over here, it looks like the next cyclone, which is impending
06:02the landfall in the next, you know, one and a half hours of Cyclone Ornab, we will also experience,
06:08unfortunately, the same devastating efforts as well.
06:11But, we must go ahead and…
06:12Yeah, let's just hope, let me take it forward from there, Apoorwa, let's just hope that as you'd earlier
06:17said that the impact is as minimal, the lost life and property, all of that can be minimized
06:24to the greatest possible extent. It's been a tough ride for the authorities and for Apoorwa
06:28as well. I hope Apoorwa, you, as well as the concerned camera person, now take shelter.
06:35We're done with this particular update. Thank you so much for bringing us all the updates
06:39and to everyone watching us around the coastal belt of Arunach, of Andhra Pradesh, as well
06:44as in regions that are likely to be impacted in Chennai. Stay safe, move away from the low-lying
06:50areas and listen to the authorities. That's the key in these situations.
