01:27This isn't a team with exceptional perimeter shooting, but at the same time, you can't just give them the wide
01:33open, okay, go ahead, you're shooting 33%, go for it.
01:35So it's got to be a balance of taking away the rim to an extent, but not just letting them
01:39cook from outside, right?
01:40Yeah, the biggest thing with the Raptors is you have to take care of the basketball.
01:45Like J.J. said in his sound, like they're so disruptive defensively.
01:49Whether they're fouling or not, it gets called or not, you're going to feel their pressure defensively.
01:54They get out in transition.
01:56That's why they lead the league in fast break points.
01:57It's off the turnovers.
01:58If the Lakers can hold it to 12 or less turnovers in this basketball game, they don't have to worry
02:04as much about the Raptors in half-court offense.

03:59Tonight, the Lakers are taking on, for the first of two this year, the Toronto Raptors.

04:06And welcome.
04:07Well, cup play the other night didn't go as the Lakers planned.
04:10In fact, let's forget about that as soon as we can.
04:13We'll get into the game a little bit later on.
04:15Not good.
04:17Blowing a big lead.
04:18However, like always, Luka got off to a huge start.
04:22It's unbelievable how good he is right out of the gate.
04:26Well, I mean, he sets the tempo.
04:27It's about every night for the Lakers offensively.
04:30That first quarter is always a Luka quarter.
04:33And he had himself quite a first.
04:35The end of the game was 37, but he had 21 of those 37 in the first quarter when the
04:41Lakers built as big as a 25-point advantage.
04:45But it just wasn't enough as the Warriors came storming all the way back.
04:50And then there's Austin Reed.
04:52You know, he's the second weapon on that offensive end.
04:55He's the guy that has a lot of usage, especially when Luka isn't on the floor.
05:00So he's got to conclude upon one thing, and that's his decision-making, and I think he will.
05:05He's really a seasoned vet now.
05:07He's the longer-tenured Laker on the roster.
05:10All right.
05:10So Toronto made a deal.
05:11It took a while to get done.
05:13But Kawhi is on the Raptors again.
05:16But he won't play.
05:17He's out for quite some time.
05:18But they still have one of the most solid players in the entire league, a guy named Scotty Barnes.
05:23Well, Scotty Barnes may be one of the best two-way players this game has.
05:27I mean, both ends of the floor, he gets it done.
05:30He's coming off of a career-high 41 Friday against the Orlando Magic.
05:36So offensively, he's been giving himself a great start to this season.
05:41But defense is something that he really takes pride in.
05:44He's going to be very tough for the Lakers to get around tonight.
05:47And then there's R.J. Barrett.
05:49He had some nagging injuries last season or so, but seems to be really healthy right now
05:53and playing like it.
05:55Average is just under 20 to go on with four assists and five boards.
05:59So they've got some offensive weapons that it's going to really test the Lakers into half-court defense.
06:05We expect a good one tonight on Luka Doncic bobblehead night.
06:10Yeah.
06:11They got here early to get it.
06:13When we come back, the starting lineup in the start.

06:18He's hitting his threes.
06:20Don't forget about the rebounds and the assists.
06:22And, gentlemen, he's going to need that tonight.
06:26I mean, not necessarily 43, but he's going to need that level of efficiency
06:29against one of the better defenses in the league.
06:31And maybe, Fish, I just kind of argued against myself.
06:34Maybe the efficiency even drops a little bit against a better defense,
06:37but then maybe that allows for his teammates to get involved a little more.
06:39Yeah, I mean, sometimes the efficiency, you know, drops against, you know, better defenses.
06:45Some nights the shots just don't go in.
06:47But, you know, as the graphic shows here, it's almost it's about the Luka minutes when he's not on the
06:54floor
06:54and how the team is able to respond there in terms of, you know,
06:59what can they do offensively to create high-quality shots when he's not on the court.
07:03You know, is it off-ball screening and cutting things that don't rely on?
07:07You can't recreate his offense.
07:09The way he scores the ball, you cannot recreate.
07:12So you have to do it through team actions that involve multiple players and multiple bodies moving.
07:17That's a good point.
07:18And typically, James, that is where Austin Reeves has stepped in in the past.
07:21He certainly did it last season before LeBron came back around Thanksgiving
07:24and was able to lead efficient offense.
07:26So I think he's kind of hoping that these last couple games more of an exception
07:29and that he'll find his way with that second unit.
07:31He has a tendency to bounce back after having a subpar game, eight turnovers.
07:35Also, I think the bench, Sexton, Grimes,
07:37those guys have proven that they can play and step up the bench production a little bit, too.
07:42Luka, he can look to pass the ball a little bit more, get some assists going,
07:45and be efficient that way because we know he can always get the numbers when he wants them.
07:50And then, Fish, maybe you just get a little bit more from the bench being at home
07:53after kind of dealing with the crowd and the momentum of the defense the Golden State was playing.
07:57Yeah, bench normally plays better at home.
08:00But, again, the Lakers have to really anchor this by limiting their turnovers.
08:04That's what really allows you to play well offensively.

09:49We have to make sure that the Lakers bench shows up tonight, just like Bill and Stu were mentioning,
09:56to potentially help that issue.
09:58Rookie Cameron Carr might be in available.

10:01JJ says we're not sure if or how much he will play.
10:04But if there is a chance he gets in, you guys, the first-round picks will make his NBA debut.
