00:00I had been living in Paris. I had been studying mime. I came back to New York because I thought,
00:06well, there's, you know, I should find something to do that, like, has a future. Maybe mime might
00:13not be it. I was working as a waitress at the Lion's Head down in the village, like making,
00:19you know, $10 in tips a night or something like that. And I was taking acting classes at Herbert
00:26Berghoff Studios. So I came back to New York specifically thinking, well, maybe I'll study
00:33acting, then maybe get some, you know, off, off, off-Broadway regional theater job. But then
00:39out of the blue, somebody contacted me because I was also trying to work as a model at the time,
00:47although I never had a paying model job. So when they talked about model-turned-actress,
00:53that was just bullshit. Because, I mean, I had never actually done a job. They had heard that
00:59I was taking acting classes. And I guess De Laurentiis had, like, put out anybody who you
01:05think could, like, come on audition. I was living in a fifth-floor walk-up down in the village,
01:10making a few bucks a night, working as a waitress. And they offered me a, you know,
01:15trip to Los Angeles to audition for King Kong. Well, I'm not that stupid. Yeah, I'll go.
01:21Oh, why not? Come on. So I went out there, and I went, and they didn't like the looks of
01:28me,
01:28I mean, at all. But then the modeling agent back in New York said, come on, you flew her out
01:37there.
01:37At least roll some film on her. Then, yeah, they offered me the part. And we were shooting within,
01:44like, a matter of weeks. I'd never been in front of a camera before. I'd never been
01:48on a set, but we were shooting at MGM. And that was, like, this childhood fantasy.
01:54to see.
