09:12Vous pouvez sentir la tension et l'excitement.
09:16Individuable record.
09:40Sled just edged it at the finish.
09:43Ahead of platoon once again.
09:45They're not giving this title up without a point.
09:48The duel, the battle for the 2026 title,
09:51really is the main event.
09:53The heavyweight bout, head-to-head.
09:55But behind them, there's a close fight for third.
09:58Only 12 points cover the next three teams.
10:00Italy's Alcedo, who missed out last year.
10:03The French team on Paprec, who did take third in 2025.
10:06And Sweden's newcomers, Trinity Racing.
10:10Alcedo Setelar arrive in Valencia in third.
10:13And their bauman and project manager, Matteo De Luca,
10:16is clear about the task that lies ahead for them.
10:20Podium.
10:21Definitely podium.
10:22We will try to do as we've done last year.
10:26That's the goal, okay?
10:29Which means podium.
10:32Paprec actually started both races poorly.
10:34But they read the race course very well
10:37and lead after the first day,
10:39enhancing their challenge to finish third overall.
10:42Of course, we would like to be on the podium of the overall for this season.
10:47But it's so close between the boat.
10:49We'll see in a few days.
10:51I mean, it's a good start.
10:52It's better like this than to be in the back.
10:54But everything can happen.
10:55I mean, there's many boats that can win a race here.
11:01Platoon reel off a comfortable win on the second day, extending away from the chasing pack.
11:06But while both title rivals are sailing well, often locking horns and little head-to-head skirmishes,
11:12a certain gravitational pull seems to draw them together.
11:17But even aggregating only six points for that day, losing one place on the finish line,
11:22the Italian tactician Vasco Vascotto is far from content.
11:26The Swede snatch forth right on the line.
11:29And look at Vascotto.
11:31The platoon tactician is furious.
11:34Oh, that one really hurts.
11:36Especially in this kind of breeze, you need to sail with personality.
11:39And I think that I fail in the second race.
11:42We start very well.
11:43We are leading.
11:44And then maybe I watch too much sled.
11:48That's a mistake.
11:49In this shifty breeze, you need to sail your own regattas.
11:54For the Italians on Alcaido Settilar, it's a bit of a roller coaster.
11:58But they scored two big race wins over those first two days to stay on course
12:02in their quest for that third step on the podium.
12:05The Italians do it again.
12:07Another race win.
12:08You couldn't ask for a better present than that.
12:11Today's win has been a special one.
12:13Because being my birthday, that can be a very wonderful gift from my crew
12:18to me to have win this last race.
12:30Putting a toe in the water at the end of this season are Katana.
12:34John Hoon and his team have decided to take the next step up to the highest level.
12:38We all know it's the pinnacle of monohull racing.
12:41And, you know, to be able to represent the U.S. over here as a U.S. boat with 11
12:46nations is exciting for us.
12:48And, you know, I think I grew up hoping someday I'd be able to go sail at the level that
12:54this fleet is.
12:55And today I had the opportunity to do that and realized it's a pretty challenging fleet.
12:59Named after a Japanese samurai sword, everything about this group looks sharp and polished.
13:06Katana is the sword of the samurai.
13:09And the samurai believes that he and his sword compete and win in battle together.
13:14So, if we do well as a team and the boat does well as a boat, we can win here.
13:20Looks like headers and pressure coming in 15th.
13:23We have three sayings.
13:25One is everybody matters.
13:26And we all know that all it takes is one mistake on a boat to lose a few places.
13:31And then the second is have fun.
13:34And, of course, to compete in this fleet, it's to be better.
13:37And so we're constantly trying to be better and improve the boat.
13:39And we've been able to do that over the years.
13:42The big fleet is different.
13:43Yeah, the big fleet's a different program than the Great Lakes with five boats.
13:46Obviously, the fleet's closer and tighter than what we're used to sailing.
13:50But we have all the tools, all the sails.
13:52Great coach, great shore team.
13:55There's really no excuse.
13:56If we find ourselves in the middle of the fleet at this event,
14:00I think that'll be a good starting point for next year.
14:03Valencia's a great chance for Australian yacht racer Mark Richards
14:06to check in with the world's leading Grand Prix Monohull circuit.
14:10He is a formidable racing sailor who started the luxury powerboat brand Palm Beach Motor Yachts.
14:16But it's the classic annual Sydney to Hobart offshore yacht race that he's best known for.
14:22Richard has won it nine times as skipper on the 100-footer Wild Oats.
14:26He now actually owns the famous 100-foot yacht, renaming it Palm Beach 11.
14:32It's been remodelled with foils
14:34and he's looking to extend that Sydney Hobart record.
14:38This week, Richards follows the 52 Super Series finale from the Palm Beach 65,
14:43the VIP guest yacht, which offers the best seat in the house.
14:47I'm from the match racing world, America's Cup world myself.
14:50But to see 16 amazing teams and the depth of sailors, it's just really impressive.
14:55The boats look amazing, the preparation, the dedication. It's a really cool vibe.
15:02After no racing is possible next day because of light winds,
15:06to catch up, three races are scheduled for the following day, the penultimate of the season.
15:11So the clock is ticking and many teams are really feeling the pressure to step up now to ensure they
15:16manage to secure their best possible result for 2026.
15:22As expected, the championship rivals get straight into some head-to-head match racing, duelling before the stars.
15:29And in a very light wind, Platoon and Sled are both very near to last off the first start line
15:34of the day.
15:36Again, Sled recover a couple of points on Platoon to start with, but then the German flag team seem to
15:41revert to following their winning instincts again.
15:44They put points on the world champions in both of the next races.
15:47Most importantly, they escape round the first mark of the second race of the day, when Sled gets snared in
15:53the traffic.
15:54Sled crossed the line in 11, and Platoon are already home in four.
15:59That's a 20-point cushion with one day to go.
16:03But in a 16-boat fleet, anything can still happen.
16:06Yeah, tricky day for sure.
16:08We decided to, you know, bring a bit of action or a bit of fireworks to the race,
16:13and I'm super proud of the team for giving it a crack.
16:16But now we're 20 points behind, and maybe one or two races tomorrow, it's a big ask.
16:21It's still a long way to go.
16:22I'm not sure that at my age, my heart will resist to what's happened today.
16:27Obviously, Sled pulled all the bullet on the gun.
16:33The Italian crew of Alcedo Settelar score what is their third race win of the week.
16:37And with second place in race seven, Andrea Lacorte's Italian team lead in Valencia by just a single point going
16:44into the final day.
16:44Chasing hard in second are the Dutch flag team led by Terry Hutchison.
16:49No way back, take the gun in race seven.
16:52And Alcedo right behind them.
16:54It's hard. You know, it's really hard, and the fleet's really, really good.
16:58And so it's nice to reward Peter with that type of day.
17:02We're definitely fighting hard. We are now leading, but having Terry Hutchinson one point behind is quite stressful.
17:16As in any top-level elite sport, performance preparation is key.
17:21Activating the body and the mind early in the day is essential.
17:27Alcedo's team start their morning stretching and doing some activation exercises together.
17:32We start in the morning with some exercises like stretching and mobility and strength exercises, also coordination exercises,
17:39just to wake the guys up and get ready for the day and to reduce the risk of injuries.
17:44But on a physically demanding Grand Prix racing boat like the TP52, not every crew member needs the same kind
17:51of preparation.
17:51We just try to adapt the exercise to the role the guys are doing.
17:56Like for example, Grindr are going to do more physical exercises, while other roles are more like a coordinative and
18:03like mental exercises.
18:08SLED's Italian navigator Andrea Vicentini starts every day with a run through the city's park.
18:14As the pressure and stresses build at each regatta and accumulate over the year,
18:18he really finds his solo runs settle his mind and recharge his mental reserves.
18:24It's a nice way for me to wake up in the morning to clear my mind,
18:29see what weather is outside, feel the air, and it absolutely relaxes me.
18:36If I don't run, I don't feel ready.
18:39The navigator is responsible for deciphering the wind trends,
18:43determining the optimum course to sail,
18:45all with the shortest and fastest route round the track using the little changes in wind direction.
18:51Well, as a navigator on unstable weather forecast adds more pressure for sure
18:56because anyway we have to take decisions and try to guess what the wind conditions will be.
19:02This affects, of course, the sail choices and affects the tactics on the race course.
19:16The very last day of the 2026 season is beautifully sunny.
19:21It still feels like summer is hanging round in Valencia.
19:26But the winds are very, very light.
19:29Platoon Aviation carry a 20 points lead at the top of the 2026 leaderboard.
19:35That means sled in second need two races to be sailed.
19:38Al Qaeda hold a comfortable third place.
19:42In the Valencia Sailing Week regatta standings,
19:45Al Qaeda settle our lead by just a single point ahead of no way back
19:49and Platoon Aviation could finish on the podium for the regatta also.
19:58It's the final day of the 2026 season and what a day it could be.
20:03Platoon are in control but sled aren't done yet.
20:06And just one point separates Al Qaeda and no way back for the event win.
20:11Anything can happen out here today.
20:15The wind again only arrives late in the afternoon.
20:18Just one race can be sailed.
20:20Platoon Aviation sail with a mix of confidence and satisfaction.
20:25And a fifth place is typical of their consistent scoreline all the way through the week.
20:31And so it's Har Müller-Spreer's German flag team
20:34which wins the 2026 52 Super Series Championship by a conclusive 30 points.
20:39They've done it.
20:41Platoon Aviation are 52 Super Series champions for the second time.
20:46A well-deserved 2026 title.
20:51It is an emotional and well-deserved win for Platoon Aviation after being so close so many times before.
20:58Winning only on tiebreak in 2023 and then missing out here in Valencia in 2024 by a single point.
21:07After a long, long season with so many ups and downs, breakdowns, material breakdowns, not good results, mistakes, whatever.
21:15On the podium, on the top of the podium, that's really a big honor.
21:20To win against all these America's Cup heroes, that's really an honor.
21:24Obviously, we are very, very happy, especially because we know that this event can go either way, one side or
21:32the other,
21:33because we had a sled that is so strong with plenty of amazing sailors on board.
21:40It's a bittersweet day for Sled, who finished second overall, but they've won the World Championship this year and they
21:46have been the boat to beat for most of the year.
21:49They bow out of the circuit after more than 10 years.
21:52Today wasn't a good way to finish off 13 years of Super Series sailing, but hey, we're super happy with
21:59how the season went in the end.
22:01You know, we probably didn't think we'd be in the position to be second overall for the season.
22:06Winning the World Champs and seven of the last ten regattas, Sled's been on the podium.
22:11So, it's been a very successful campaign for Mr Okur and the Sled boys.
22:15It's life, we have to look to the future and I'm really thankful for the opportunity I had to sail
22:24exactly with this amazing team.
22:30André Lacorte's Italian team on Alcedo Setelar have a dream finale.
22:34With another great race taking second through the finish line, they win the final event of the season here in
22:39Valencia.
22:40Alcedo crossed the line in second and that's it. Seven points clear of no way back. Their first ever regatta
22:48win on the 52 Super Series.
22:50And they've done it in the season finale here in Valencia.
22:55It's a remarkable achievement considering it's only two years since the Italian team joined the 52 Super Series.
23:05I still don't believe what's happening today. There's much more above our expectation. The crew's been doing an excellent job.
23:14Cam do some magic all this week and we have the best team, for sure.
23:20And winning an event in the second year is something that we never, never, ever believe or even hope. And
23:28have a super team.
23:33The last event we were last. Didn't do a lot wrong. Didn't think we were sailing that badly. And then
23:37we turn it around this week and all the magic sort of took place on the race course.
23:42Look where we are. We won the final event.
23:43Thank you very much.
23:45Thank you very much.
23:47Thank you very much.
23:48So the 2026 52 Super Series final standings.
23:52Platoon Aviation win on 216 points.
23:55Second are Sled on 246 points.
23:58Third are Alcedo Cetalar on 253 points.
24:02Fourth, No Way Back on 277.
24:04And in fifth, Trinity on 290.
24:07The 52 Super Series Valencia Sailing Week.
24:10The final standings.
24:11Alcedo Cetalar win on 36 points.
24:14Second are No Way Back on 43 points.
24:18Third are Platoon Aviation on 45 points.
24:21And the newcomers from the USA, Katana, take 11th place at their first ever regatta on the 52 Super Series.
24:34And so the season finishes on a high note in Valencia with a record sized fleet and the promise of
24:39new teams joining for 2027.
24:43The next season is just around the corner starting in Thailand in February.
