Tokyo Disneyland turned out to be a surprisingly affordable family day out, and the total cost for a family of three was much lower than expected. On their first visit, Lloyd and Mandy celebrate Lyla’s second birthday, compare the trip with Disneyland in Anaheim, and break down what they spent on tickets, a budget hotel near the park, tolls, food, snacks, and transport.
The trip starts with a four-hour drive from Nagano to Tokyo Bay, a two-night stay at a simple hotel with breakfast and shuttle service, and an early morning arrival at a very busy Tokyo Disneyland. Along the way, they explore rides, parades, popcorn flavours, churros, and surprisingly affordable meals, all while navigating the park with a toddler. It’s a mix of travel vlog, Disneyland review, family travel, and Japan trip planning, with plenty of honest reactions to the crowds, the weather, and the value for money.
For anyone searching for Tokyo Disneyland cost, family travel in Japan, Disneyland Japan budget tips, or a first-time Tokyo Disneyland experience, this video offers a practical look at what a day at the park really costs. It’s also useful for viewers comparing Tokyo Disneyland vs Disneyland California, looking for affordable Tokyo hotel options near Disneyland, or planning a family-friendly Disney trip.
Ideal for travel vlog fans, Japan family travel searches, Disney park budget breakdowns, and Tokyo Disneyland planning. If you want a first-hand look at the cost of Disneyland in Japan, family-friendly rides, parade viewing, and affordable food near the park, this is a helpful Tokyo Disneyland review and travel cost guide.

00:00We are here at Tokyo Disneyland and today we're going to see how much it cost us.
00:03The average family spends about a thousand US dollars for a family of three at Disneyland in Anaheim.
00:11So today we're going to compare just how much it costs us here compared to there.
00:14But is Tokyo Disneyland really that much cheaper than visiting Disney in America?
00:19Today we're taking you along for our very first visit, sharing the experience, the surprises and exactly how much we
00:25spent as a family of three.
00:26We're actually having the best day. I think Lloyd and I feel like big kids right now. So much fun.
00:31Lila's very happy. This has probably been the best decision for her birthday.
00:35This is actually pretty insane. I can't imagine how long it's been taken to make all this. It's massive.
00:43That's all coming up right now on Lloyd and Mandy.
00:48All right. So we arrived in Tokyo Bay last night. We drove in from Nagano.
00:55Not too bad. About a four hour drive along the expressways.
00:59We did have to pay tolls. There was like four different toll stations and it came to around 8,000
01:07yen all up.
01:09But it made the trip like two hours faster than what it would have been.
01:13And we got a hotel for two nights.
01:16So we stayed at a hotel last night and then we're going to be staying in a hotel again just
01:21because it's such a huge day going to Disneyland.
01:24We didn't want to drive in and make like a day trip out of it. It's just too long.
01:29So we found a really budget hotel. It's about a 15 minute drive from Disneyland and it was only about
01:3713,000 yen per night including breakfast.
01:41It's nothing fancy at all. Like it's a pretty small room with a king bed, a shower and a toilet.
01:46But for that price, so close to Disneyland, we think it's pretty good.
01:50And they also have a shuttle. So it takes you to Disneyland and DisneySea in the morning.
01:56It goes like every half an hour and it can get pretty crowded.
02:00And then it comes back to the hotel starting, I think, about 8 p.m.
02:07Runs from like 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. around when all the shows and everything finish.
02:11So not too bad.
02:12And so the tickets to Disneyland for all three of us, it was 11,000 yen each for me and
02:19Mandy.
02:20And Lila gets in for free because kids, yeah, they get access for free.
02:24So it works out to be like $200 Australian for all three of us to go, which I think is
02:32pretty reasonable.
02:32We also found a really good family restaurant last night within walking distance to this hotel.
02:38It's like a Hawaiian themed restaurant.
02:42Really casual sort of diner experience.
02:45Really good food though.
02:46We got like a whole chicken between us and unlimited bread and a bunch of sides.
02:51They even had like whiskey highballs, which I really like, which are only like, I think it was less than
02:57$3 Australian.
02:58Really, really affordable dinner.
03:00We spent like 5,000 yen on all of us.
03:04So, so far, everything has been remarkably cheap.
03:09A lot cheaper than what we were expecting to do a two-day trip to Disneyland in Tokyo.
03:15But I guess we'll see how it is at the park today.
03:18We're about to catch the shuttle now.
03:20So they also have parking here for guests at this hotel and it's about 1,500 yen per day.
03:28So it's not too bad.
03:30Like if you're driving in, you can park here.
03:32They also have an airport shuttle.
03:34I think it goes to both airports and I think it leaves a few times a day.
03:39So if you're flying in to Tokyo, you could potentially get the shuttle straight to this hotel and then you
03:45get the shuttle to Disneyland.
03:46You don't have to get a train or anything with all your luggage.
03:49Really handy.
03:49We're just waiting on the shuttle.
03:51Everything here feels like kind of Disney thing.
03:54They've got Disney music.
03:55A bunch of like Halloween decorations because it's almost Halloween.
03:58Kind of feel like you're staying at the park anyway, even though you're like 15, 20 minutes drive.
04:03It's a pretty good budget option, honestly.
04:24Alright, we're headed to Tokyo Disneyland.
04:26It's Lila's second birthday today.
04:29It's about 8 o'clock in the morning.
04:31We just drove to Tokyo yesterday and today we're exploring Disneyland for the first time.
04:38Pretty excited.
04:39It is super busy.
04:40It's only 8 o'clock in the morning and there's already so many people here.
04:43It doesn't look like it's open yet.
04:44No one's really gone in, so we must have got here a little bit early.
04:47I think there's a big thing with Disneyland and trying to get on the rides first so you don't have
04:52to line up.
04:52But we're not going to do that today.
04:53We're just going to cruise, I think.
04:55I'm getting old and I need something to rely on.
05:00So tell me when you're going to let me in.
05:06I'm getting tired and then it's somewhere to begin.
05:10Are you overwhelmed?
05:13The marketing for this joint is insane.
05:15I can't remember how many people just lock up at the same time every day.
05:18It's a Wednesday in October.
05:29So there is apparently the parade, which is happening at 12.55.
05:33It's about 9.30.
05:35There's already so many people just lining up the street here waiting.
05:40They've set up like picnic blankets.
05:42Someone's got picnic chairs.
05:44I guess it's probably really hard to get a good spot.
05:47So that's pretty keen.
05:48Four hours in advance lining up.
05:51Good on them.
05:51We spotted the popcorn.
05:53Apparently the popcorn here is mind-blowing.
05:55There's like 10 different flavours or something like that.
05:58We're going to check it out.
06:20Somewhere on your way.
06:25Somewhere on your way.
06:30A simple thing.
06:33Where have you gone?
06:34Okay, I think it's safe to say Lila's having a pretty good birthday.
06:38Obviously Disneyland is built for kids, but it feels like it's a bit of an adult's playground as well.
06:44One thing I can say for sure is that travelling with a toddler is a completely different game than just
06:50travelling the two of us, which we've been doing the last few years.
06:52Like honestly, I don't know how it happens, but when you travel with a toddler, you seem to end up
06:57packing probably two to three times as much stuff as you usually would.
07:02Just to make sure that you have everything you need in every different occasion, for instance when it rains.
07:07And that's why we've been using Level 8 luggage for years now, because they just make travelling and packing so
07:11much easier.
07:12So this is our Level 8 Voyager suitcase, and one of my favourite things about it is just how much
07:17you can actually fit inside.
07:19Unlike most suitcases where the handle runs right through the middle and creates those annoying bumps on the inside, the
07:24Voyager has this cool little wide handle design.
07:27So instead of the handle taking up internal space inside the suitcase, it doesn't take up any room, and you
07:33can pack like probably 10 to 20% more in your suitcase because of it.
07:38Which is especially handy if you're trying to fit in every little thing for travelling with a toddler, which is
07:43what we always seem to need these days.
07:45It's also got a really sturdy polycarbonate shell, a TSA approved lock, and wheels that make it super easy to
07:51move around.
07:52We've literally travelled all over the world with Level 8 luggage since 2022, so four years now, and it's made
07:58it so much easier for us.
07:59And it's become one of those things that we genuinely wouldn't leave home without.
08:02So if you're planning a trip yourself, Level 8's given us a discount to share with you guys.
08:07It's 12% off if you use code LM12 at checkout.
08:11We'll leave a link below in the description so you can check them out for yourself.
08:14Anyway, enough about packing, let's get back to the video.
08:17It's a small room.
08:21Welcome to Small World Station.
08:24Once you have loaded the boat, for your safety, please remain seated with your hands, arms, feet, and legs inside
08:33during the cruise.
08:34Please watch young travelers, and there's to be no flash photography.
09:03This is actually pretty insane.
09:06I can't imagine how long it'll be taken to make all this.
09:10It's massive.
09:33Okay, it started raining a little bit, but it's not too bad.
09:36I actually thought it was going to be too hot here today, so it's actually quite nice.
09:40We're actually having the best day.
09:43I think Floyd and I feel like big kids right now.
09:45It's so much fun.
09:46Lila's very happy.
09:48This has probably been the best decision for her birthday.
09:50We're actually considering making this like a tradition for our family for Lila's birthdays,
09:55because I know next year when she turns three, she's going to really love it.
09:58She's been very immersed in everything, but she's still like a little like not sure of what's going on,
10:03so I think next year will be even better.
10:05But yeah, this is pretty awesome.
10:08Everyone's eating churros, so we're going to go see if we can find one.
10:12One thing that's impressed us is that the food isn't that expensive in comparison to like if we were going
10:17to Disney in like America or something like that.
10:19Like you can actually eat a couple times here, get snacks, and it not completely rob you.
10:26We're actually impressed with that.
10:29Okay, we found, I think, a pretty good spot to watch the parade.
10:33It's starting in about 15 minutes.
10:36It's starting to get really packed.
10:37There's been thousands of people lining the main street here, lining up since the park opened at nine o'clock,
10:44which is kind of insane, but good on them.
10:46We've got a pretty good spot under this tree.
10:49The rain's maybe keeping a lot of people away, but I think this is one of the main things you
10:54want to try and see when you're here.
10:55I think Lila will really enjoy it.
11:43Still need one of them churros.
11:45We've seen a lot of people walk around with churros.
11:47We're on the hunts.
11:49We haven't been able to find any yet.
11:50There's some pretty decent food here.
11:53We've had some, it was like a gyoza roll.
11:56Not too bad.
11:57Pretty affordable.
11:59We had some nice popcorn, but we really want some churros.
12:02So we thought everyone was lined up on the side of the main road for the parade,
12:07but the parade just finished.
12:09And the main road is still lined with people.
12:12So I don't know if they just hang out there all day.
12:15For every parade, there's more than one.
12:17So maybe they're just parade enthusiasts.
12:21That's hardcore.
12:22There was a full river from the rain going at their feet and on them,
12:26and they stayed sitting, and they were just sitting on the maps of the park.
12:31So hectic.
12:34Hats off to them.
12:35They're very patient.
12:37I think we found the churros.
12:38It's a big line.
12:39I think we're going to do it.
12:41We have to do it.
12:51It's maple pumpkin.
12:55Is that what we want?
12:57It's what they're serving, yeah.
12:59It's not awesome.
13:00Well, I'll try this.
13:17Look at those.
13:19They smell so good.
13:22Oh, it's better.
13:23I missed it.
13:28Pretty good.
13:30Usually it's like moist in the middle.
13:33Don't you usually have like a chocolate sauce or something?
13:36It's still very good though.
13:38It's not what I was expecting.
13:39I might have to try the next churros then, too.
13:59It's just one size.
14:06They're so cute.
14:09I'm going to have to get them.
14:12Hey, we must be missing something because seriously, these people have not done anything
14:16except sit and wait for parades.
14:19They haven't gone on rides.
14:20They haven't gone anywhere.
14:22It's strange.
14:24I went to Disneyland in America as a kid.
14:26I don't remember ever seeing people sitting, lining the streets like that, waiting the entire day.
14:32It's different.
14:33Maybe there's something else that's happening that we don't know about.
14:36It seems weird to me.
14:39Well, and like, you can just walk up five minutes before the parade starts and stand right behind them and
14:45see the exact same thing.
14:46Yeah.
14:47It's not like you're getting that good of a view.
14:49Like, maybe it's usually a lot busier and you can't get there and it's just quieter today.
14:54I'm not sure.
14:55Can someone in the comments let us know if you know why?
14:59I'm so curious.
15:22Look how many people are just sitting all day.
15:30Okay, hopefully you can hear me over the music, but we've just come back to the kids' area in the
15:35afternoon
15:36and there's literally no kids here left.
15:39So, it might be worth coming in the afternoon instead of the morning.
15:43You have a small child.
15:45All the kids' rides are, like, empty.
15:47There's no lines.
15:48Are you able to fit?
15:55There's no lines.
15:58There's no lines.
16:02Are you able to fit?
16:04Yeah.
16:05In passatаем...
16:12By the way....
16:43All right, you probably can't see us, but we're in the Pirates of the Caribbean.
16:46Right, this is our last ride for the day, it's just about dark outside, the restaurant
16:52looks really cool.
16:55All right, well that was our last ride for the day, it's about to get dark, we're going
16:59to head back to the hotel.
17:01We do not spend too much money at all, it's really affordable here, we put up on the screen
17:07exactly how much everything cost and tally it up, but yeah, Tokyo Disneyland is really
17:13good value for money, highly recommend coming with your family if you're in Japan and if
17:17you made it this far please hit like and subscribe and we'll see you in the next video, cheers.
17:21And we'll see you again next time.
17:22T как фundenхазит.
17:28Yeah, it's just faster, dive super.
17:36To be continued.
