Ever seen "Charging On Hold" at 80%? That's Optimized Battery Charging. Apple says time spent fully charged wears your battery down, so your iPhone learns your routine, waits at 80%, and aims to finish right before you unplug.

The bigger threat is heat. Apple warns that temperatures above 95°F (35°C) can permanently damage battery capacity, and charging while it's hot makes it worse. If your phone gets hot while charging, take it out of its case. And don't leave it in a hot car.
