00:00So many people sort of do it now with all the help, particularly from the Sherpas, right, that when it
00:06comes to all these, all these kind of conquering firsts, there aren't that many firsts left to conquer in a
00:12way like it has been done before and it loses its appeal somehow.
00:16I think it's also this idea that, you know, you see it on lots of mountains all over the world,
00:21like, you know, Snowden now, there's every year 1500 kilograms of rubbish have to be removed by volunteers.
00:28So if you're and you know, there's queues, there's people jumping the queue, there's graffiti.
00:33If you're doing it for the glory and you're not at all doing it for with any respect for the
00:38environment or nature around you, it just it makes me angry more than anything else.
00:41So I would really kind of want to interrogate people's motives for doing it.
00:46But I do think Everest, for me, has kind of totally lost that position of reverence.
