00:00This is a show that really values authenticity. I love hearing about how there are veterans that
00:04are brought in to write and direct and produce. But for each of you individually, how did you
00:11prepare to make your portrayal the most authentic version of the character that you could bring
00:16this season? Well, for me, you know, Rafe, obviously we met him in Terminalist Dark Wolf.
00:24So the first thing I did when it came to preparing is going to the source material,
00:29which is the books, you know, and really understanding who Rafe is from an audience
00:34perspective or a reader's perspective and my own, you know, who I imagined him to be.
00:38I think it's really important that I look at the seven years that have gone by for Rafe
00:44from the end of Dark Wolf to where he is right now, where we meet him as an arms dealer,
00:48effectively now, and how the events of Dark Wolf and him not being there for James Rees
00:55in Terminalist Season 1 through that time, what that's done to him. And, you know, I speak to a
01:01lot of SEALs that I know who are very good friends of mine, unfortunately, through the show to ask them
01:06what that it would be like for them as a SEAL, you know, if they had a brother that was
01:10in those
01:11situations, how that would feel and what that would do to them. And so much of it is like riddled
01:16with guilt,
01:16but also a desire to right those wrongs that they feel that they've they've done and to do to if
01:22that
01:23person is ever in need, they'll be there without a second's thought.
01:26I think a lot of it is also in the like the way they cast this thing, they can feel
01:31if you fit in
01:32this universe, or you don't. Every all the guys have done a lot of previous shows have a lot of
01:39intensive training. And, and anything you need or anything that's missing regarding the authenticity
01:46that you talk about is there times a million on the show, they're watching every little move you make,
01:51they're looking at the monitors all the time. So it gives you this kind of security that you can relax,
01:56you know, you're taking care of if you make the smallest mistake, they will come and tell you in
02:01the nicest way, but they will help you. And I think that's, that's part of the DNA of the show.
02:07Yeah, they were in these meetings we took with the with the with the creative team. I don't know if
02:14it
02:14was the same for the for the boys, but I assume they had the same question. And one of them
02:18was,
02:19have you ever been in a fight? And just quite simply that, and I think, I think it's, it's,
02:27it's not just fighting for the sake of fighting. It's, it's like, why were you, why are you fighting?
02:33And, and, and I think it translates into someone who uses their strength to be a protector and to,
02:39and to be your brother's keeper. And that's what they were looking for in all of us. And,
02:46and then they just equipped us with all the tactics and techniques and, and, and experience
02:53that they have. And they did it on a daily basis. They did it at, they were at the ready,
02:58supremely available at every moment to, to help us get it right. So the authenticity is,
03:06is paramount so that you don't do dishonor to the brotherhood. And, and that's what we all strove to,
03:12the very least accomplish is, is to make sure that we, we honor them.
03:18This is a very serious show. It tackles a lot of very serious topics. How do you guys decompress
03:23when you are going home from a set like this?
03:26Play paddle tennis.
03:28They've been talking about paddle all day.
03:30Yeah.
03:31It would be came to us now. They're like, did you bring your paddle?
03:33No, I didn't bring my paddle. I was going to bring my paddle, but I didn't have enough time.
03:36God, the important thing is why we're here. Come on.
03:39Who's the ultimate paddle tennis player?
03:42Yeah. I mean,
03:43Dan's the best player for sure. We, we, he, he introduced the rest of us to paddle tennis
03:51in Budapest during Dark Wolf. And it kind of became the, it was like kind of the core
03:57B plot of the show was, it was the paddle, the paddle sessions. And it became a thing that
04:03we all went and did every, every weekend, the weekend was taken up with paddle and eating a
04:07lot of good food, which is also how we all became so close. You know, it was, it was more
04:12difficult
04:12during the true believers shoot. We got it in, you know, we always make sure we prioritize the paddle,
04:17but, uh, it was more difficult because it was a much broader show, you know, and there was
04:21many different storylines. So having us all in Toronto or, you know, Africa, wherever we were at
04:27the same time to go and play was much more difficult.
04:29They were also really good about when we did have free time, pulling us all together. I know
04:34we all went to the, to the fight in Montreal, uh, Valentina Shevchenko, uh, the great champion,
04:40UFC champion, probably the best fighter in the world, man or female. We'd be in Marrakesh or Tangiers
04:46or wherever we're at. And, um, and we'd all kind of just head to the bar and sit down. And
04:52that was really nice. I mean, it was really nice to have your EPs there with you at the end
04:56of a shoot
04:56day. Um, decompressing, figuring out, debriefing, figuring out a few things for the next day,
05:02watching Raymond Doza do a shot list as we're all sitting around. And, uh, and that's, uh,
05:08we're still technically Gus, I guess working, but when we're still, you know, we just love being in
05:13it and we love being with each other. And I think that that was important time too.
05:16Yeah. I think it was one of the first shows that I've been a part of where the, the crew,
05:21the producers, the actors, all intermingle off camera. And that's what creates that family
05:27environment that there's people in every department that you become great friends with. Um, which is
05:33why this show is special in that respect.
