00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're looking at questions concerning the MCU that Avengers Doomsday needs to answer.
00:07Some spoilers if you're not all caught up.
00:09I was just doing what you don't have the guts to do!
00:12Get out! Get your insulin! Hands off me!
00:16Number 10. So, are we just pretending the Council of Kangs never existed?
00:20Oh, we're all gonna die.
00:24Wait, wait, oh, wait, wait, wait, no, no!
00:29Quantumania was essentially a prelude to the planned Avengers The Kang Dynasty.
00:33Scott Lang fears the Kang he defeated might just be the beginning.
00:36You left me right here to die.
00:42Let's see how they do.
00:43In the mid-credits scene, the Council of Kangs gathers to plot their multiversal takeover,
00:48which will never happen since Marvel fired Jonathan Majors.
00:51The Kang Dynasty was thus reworked into Doomsday.
00:54It makes sense why Marvel shifted gears, but this was still a pretty big plot point to abandon.
01:11Doomsday needs to explain why the Council isn't a threat anymore, even if it's just a throwaway line.
01:16Maybe they all got wiped out during the incursions teased in Avengers Endgame Encore.
01:20Or perhaps Doom personally destroyed the stadium with every Kang inside,
01:24demonstrating just how powerful the new big bad is.
01:28How many did you call?
01:30All of us.
01:33Number 9. Will there be an Avengers merger?
01:36When that time comes, make sure the suit's ready.
01:40Because Ross was right about one thing.
01:43The world needs the Avengers.
01:45Brave New World ends with Sam Wilson planning an Avengers revival.
01:49Well, Valentina Allegra de Fontaine beats him to the punch,
01:52rebranding the Thunderbolts as the new Avengers.
01:55The Avengers are not walking through that door.
01:59We have no reliable heroes.
02:02That is why the onus is on me.
02:05Although the government recognizes Yelena's team as the Avengers,
02:08the internet sees otherwise, and Wilson tries to copyright the name.
02:12Surely they'll set their differences aside in Doomsday.
02:15Then who are the real Avengers?
02:16Well, that's the question the internet has been asking,
02:18and judging by the very nasty memes that I've read,
02:21they don't think that it's us.
02:23After this crisis, though, will the two teams remain separate or unite as one?
02:28Would their leader be Sam, Yelena, both, or someone else?
02:39Does Sam's team have any other members besides Joaquin Torres?
02:43Could there technically be a third team with the young Avengers?
02:46I'm putting together a team.
02:48And I want you on it.
02:56Please?
02:56There's also the matter of how many characters will survive.
02:59If both teams shrink, an Avengers merger seems inevitable.
03:03We have to let it out.
03:04We have to spend time together.
03:08And even if it doesn't make the emptiness go away,
03:11I promise you it will feel lighter.
03:13There are even more Marvel theories to unpack on WatchMojo's 24-7 livestream.
03:18Scan the QR code on screen to join us live for MCU deep dives and debates.
03:22Avengers.
03:23With the Z, there is no copyright.
03:25No.
03:26So soft, too.
03:27Number 8.
03:28What are the Ten Rings serving as a beacon for?
03:31I get there are things you never wanted to talk about, and I never wanted to push.
03:34But a guy with a freaking machete for an arm just chopped our butts in half, Sean!
03:40That Shang-Chi sequel is still reportedly happening, but for now, the character will return in Doomsday.
03:45Although much of the advertising has focused on other characters, we think Shang-Chi might play a larger role than
03:51the trailers suggest.
03:52At the end of the 2021 film, we learn that the Ten Rings are well over 1,000 years old.
03:58How long did your dad have them before he gave them to you?
04:02Um, about 1,000 years?
04:05The thermal luminescence indicates they're older than that.
04:08Now, they're serving as some sort of beacon, but who are they sending a message to?
04:13Kang's probably out, but Doom, Loki, and the X-Men are just a few possibilities.
04:17Put aside your petty squabbles.
04:23Presume nothing except this.
04:26If you return, you will return as brothers and sisters.
04:31It could also be characters we haven't seen yet, such as the McLuhan's.
04:35This may ultimately be a question for the Shang-Chi sequel to answer, but if there's a multiversal connection, expect
04:41an explanation in Doomsday.
04:43I know this is a lot to take in, but you're gonna have to start getting used to that.
04:48From now on, the trajectory of your lives will be like nothing you've ever experienced before.
04:55Number 7.
04:56What's the Fantastic Four's history with Doom?
04:58Obviously, while we were in space, due to errors on my part...
05:01We encountered a cosmic storm that altered our DNA.
05:05We came back with anomalies.
05:08Although First Steps held off on a full Doom reveal, it's clear that he already has an established relationship with
05:14the Fantastic Four.
05:15He's also become ruler of the country Latveria by this point, yet can't be bothered to attend UN meetings.
05:20Whatever Doom is planning, young Franklin will likely play a role.
05:24While Sue and Reed have settled down with their family, it's heavily implied in the Doomsday trailers that Victor lost
05:29his.
05:30And then, everything he loved was taken from him.
05:38I knew he was lost.
05:40Sue's narration reflects on a happier time when Victor was a loving friend.
05:44Now, he's a broken man with nothing to lose.
05:47It seems essential that Doomsday includes a flashback fleshing out Victor's history with the Fantastic Four and where exactly it
05:53all went wrong.
05:54Victor.
05:56Did you do this?
05:59Number 6.
06:00Why did Doom collect Banner?
06:02Okay.
06:03Guys, I love to tell stories, but you know, I gotta teach you some physics at some point, yeah.
06:08As of writing, Marvel hasn't officially confirmed whether Mark Ruffalo is in the Doomsday cast.
06:13Based on the new footage and encore, though, Bruce Banner should return in this film, or at the very least,
06:18Secret Wars.
06:19You mean, like if I wanted to keep some parts of Hulk, but not others?
06:23Right.
06:24It would be enormously dangerous and complex.
06:27What we do know for sure is that Doom has collected him.
06:31But what for?
06:32The go-to explanation may be that Doom wants the Hulk to demonstrate his strength on Battleworld.
06:37Trying to muzzle me like you muzzle yourself?
06:40I can't let you in there.
06:42Whatever VMAX is, you're not getting it.
06:44Like hell, I'm not.
06:46What if Doom isn't interested in the Hulk, however?
06:49Maybe he's more drawn to Banner and his intellect.
06:52Is anyone hurt?
06:53Is it just me?
06:55Is anyone hurt?
06:56Victor is a genius, although two big brains are better than one.
07:00Banner probably wouldn't be the most willing recruit,
07:03but if Doom makes a tempting offer, like a permanent cure for the Hulk, Bruce might fall in line.
07:08Number 5.
07:09Is Spider-Man on Battleworld?
07:11If so, is he the only one?
07:13Doctor Strange.
07:18Can I help you?
07:20You caused an incursion, and we're gonna fix it.
07:23Between Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, and the Eternals,
07:26several MIA MCU characters could resurface in Doomsday.
07:30After Brand New Day, though, our biggest question was where in the battle world is Spider-Man?
07:35Based on Ned's Spidey tracker, the web-slinger isn't in New York or even on Earth.
07:39Location unknown.
07:42Location unknown.
07:48Location found.
07:50He's on a remote planet.
07:51Probably one Doom has crafted.
07:53Perhaps the question isn't if Spider-Man is on Battleworld.
07:57It's if more than one has been collected.
07:59Just as Tom Holland is rumored to be in Doomsday,
08:01many have theorized that Tobey Maguire will return as Peter too.
08:05Gotta cure all of them, right?
08:09Right.
08:12That's what we do.
08:14Andrew Garfield has denied that he'll be back as Peter 3,
08:17although it wouldn't be the first time he's kept a secret.
08:19In any case, multiple spiders might be in Doom's web.
08:22Number 4
08:23Will the classic X-Men meet the new class?
08:26You can't hide from me forever, Bill.
08:29You've got a strong door, but it's the wall you have to worry about.
08:33Who are you and what do you want?
08:35Sadie Sink's debut as Jean Grey all but confirmed that the X-Men would be getting a fresh slate in
08:40the MCU.
08:41The subsequent casting of Kit Conner as Scott Summers,
08:44Christopher Abbott as Charles Xavier,
08:46Indy Navaretti as Rogue,
08:47Samara Weaving as Emma Frost,
08:49and Maya Boyd as Storm further confirmed this.
08:51While we assume Deadpool will be Ryan Reynolds' role for life,
08:55Doomsday and possibly Secret Wars will likely serve as a final bow for most of the OG X-Men actors.
09:01What do you mean you were never there?
09:03She projects Bishop back in time a few days to warn the others of the coming attack.
09:08So she sends Bishop back in time?
09:10Now, just his consciousness.
09:12Could the new class drop by in either of these films for a proper passing of the torch?
09:16Or would that overshadow our farewell to several iconic portrayals?
09:20Whatever awaits, this could very well be the last time we visit Earth-1005.
09:25Actually, I could use some help with that.
09:27Help with what?
09:29Pretty much everything after 1973.
09:33Number 3.
09:33Why does Loki seek out Steve?
09:35I thought, maybe I'll try some of that life Tony was telling me to get.
09:44Anthony Russo said that, quote,
09:46Steve Rogers' story ended with Peggy Carter,
09:48and in that moment, that's where Doomsday is born.
09:51So, whatever's happening to the multiverse,
09:54Steve's decision to go back in time must be partially responsible.
09:57You want to tell me about her?
10:05No.
10:07No, I don't think I will.
10:08This is apparently where Loki comes in.
10:11Encore reveals that he'll interrupt Steve and Peggy's dance.
10:14It remains to be seen if this happens sometime during the Loki TV series or after.
10:18C-20 and her team went dark shortly after they jumped into the 1985 branch.
10:23All signs point to another ambush.
10:25We've grabbed enough temporal aura to know it's our Loki variant.
10:29If it's the latter, why isn't he on his throne at the end of time?
10:33Probably because something has gone horribly wrong in the multiverse.
10:36While Loki offers to help Steve and Peggy,
10:38he may need an assist saving the multiverse in return.
10:41The time variants, authority, and the gods of Asgard, one and the same.
10:46Drunk with power, blinded to the truth.
10:48Those you underestimate will devour you.
10:50You underestimate me.
10:52Is there a win-win where Steve stops Doomsday and preserves his happy ending?
10:57Number 2.
10:58Will the multiverse still exist after this?
11:00I am.
11:02I've got to go see what exactly it is we've been protecting for all this time.
11:08In another Encore credit scene,
11:10Mobius and his fellow TVA employees find that the multiverse is collapsing.
11:14The only three worlds left are Earth-616, Earth-10005, and Earth-828,
11:20setting up the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four to cross paths.
11:24Explorers, heroes, citizens, or leaders, they continue to change,
11:29becoming whatever we need them to be whenever we need them.
11:32Does that mean all of the other Marvel-related universes are gone forever?
11:36Considering that Marvel has new seasons of X-Men 97
11:39and Marvel Zombies reportedly in development, that seems unlikely.
11:44Take my hand.
11:45All will be made whole.
11:47That's all you have to do.
11:49You can still save the world.
11:51Plus, Sony would never go for that.
11:53Even if the multiverse is restored,
11:55that doesn't necessarily mean every Earth will survive.
11:58Even the ones that do may not be the same.
12:01Oh no.
12:02Oh no.
12:03Oh no.
12:06Who's in the wrong universe?
12:07We don't think Marvel can completely revert to the status quo.
12:11Something, or someone, needs to be sacrificed for the future to be secured.
12:18It's...

12:33Always on, always live.
12:35Are you not entertained?
12:37Number 1.
12:38Why does Doom look like Tony Stark?
12:41I saw this coming a few years back.
12:42I had a vision.
12:43I didn't want to believe it.
12:45I thought I was dreaming.
12:46Tony, I'm going to need you to focus.
12:47And I needed you.
12:49When Robert Downey Jr. was cast as Dr. Doom,
12:52there was a mix of excitement, intrigue, and above all else, confusion.
12:56How are they going to explain Doom's resemblance to Tony Stark?
12:59We know what it sounds like.
13:01Tony, after everything you've seen, is anything really impossible?
13:03Quantum fluctuation messes with the Planck scale,
13:05which then triggers the Deutsch proposition.
13:07Can we agree on that?
13:08The leading theory is that Doom is a Tony variant,
13:11although it could just be a coincidence.
13:13Chris Evans played versions of Steve Rogers and Johnny Storm,
13:16but Marvel never explained why they look alike.
13:18You're in the void.
13:20Think of it as purgatory.
13:22Reed called it a metaphysical junkyard,
13:25where anything useless goes before it gets annihilated forever.
13:28Another possibility is that we'll never actually see Doom's face unmasked.
13:32Even if we do,
13:33Downey could still be hidden behind so much makeup that we won't recognize him.
13:37We doubt Marvel will go that route,
13:39but it would be a bold move if they brought RDJ back,
13:42only to give him the Darth Vader treatment.
13:44No.
13:46Go, my son.
13:50Leave me.
13:52No.
13:53What questions do you have for Doom's Day to answer?
