00:03Hi, I'm Sue from Refinery29. While we love getting dressed up for holiday parties, it really puts
00:08the pressure on finding something new and great to wear every time. The easiest and our favorite
00:12way to pep up your party gear is with a great accessory. Today we're going to show you how to
00:17make a shiny pearl hairpiece to add sparkle and shine to your holiday party gear. Here's what
00:22you'll need. Two different sizes of pearls, one small and one just slightly bigger, a couple of
00:27clear beads, a hair comb, a few silver crimpers, two different sizes of silver chains, a pair of
00:33crimpers, a pair of wire cutters, and a strong clear glue. The first thing you'll need to do is take
00:40your wire cutters and your small silver chain. Fold the chain in half and make one simple clip.
00:52Do that a few more times until you have just a few different lengths of your small chain. Then do
00:59the same with your larger silver chain. In total, you'll have eight silver chains. Next, take one of
01:12the smaller chains, your crimpers, and one silver crimp. Thread the small chain through so that it hangs
01:22down about a half an inch. Then squeeze your crimpers to secure it in place. Starting at the opposite end
01:29of where you placed your crimp, take one of your larger size pearls and thread it through as well.
01:36Next, take your crimpers and one silver crimp. Next, add one of your larger pearls.
01:50Then add two silver crimps. This time, don't clamp them together. Repeat the same steps with your clear
02:00bead followed again by two silver crimps and your larger pearl. Now, move the next silver crimp about
02:09an inch away from the first pearl and clamp it down. Move your bead over and secure it with the
02:24next clamp.
02:26This is going to keep your beads in place. Continue spacing your beads out,
02:36about one inch a piece, until you reach the end of the chain. Continue this technique on two more chains
02:42and be sure to vary the number of beads you use on each one. You don't want them to look
02:46identical.
02:47Now, bring all of your chains together and prepare to attach them to the comb. Using extra strength
02:52clear glue, place a small line at the bottom of the comb. Starting with your longest chains,
03:02attach one side to the end of the comb and one side to the other.
03:13Make sure you don't get any glue on the front of the comb so it looks clean when you put
03:17it in your
03:17hair. Now, using your beaded chains, attach them in the same manner, moving towards the inside of the comb.
03:26Apply your larger chain. Don't worry if your chains get a few knots in them. That's all part of the
03:32fun.
03:32You want it to be as shiny and textured as it can be. Place your thicker chains in the glue
03:37as well,
03:37just to mix things up. As you work your way to the middle, bury your chain width so they don't
03:43all fall
03:43to the same place. Keep going until you've added all but two of your chains. Almost finished. This is what
03:49it should
03:49look like at this point. Now, with your remaining two chains, simply add them to the ends of your hairpin
03:58and let them hang. Don't forget to wait for it to dry before you put it in your hair.
04:06We learned that the hard way. Once the glue is dry, you'll have a fantastic accessory to match all your
04:12holiday dresses.
