00:11Hi, I'm Annie. I'm Charlene. Welcome back to another episode of our exciting winter
00:16wonderland that's totally shoppable, Tinseltown. Today we're talking about family time and better
00:23yet, family gifting. You definitely don't want to be Kevin from Home Alone, left by yourselves
00:28on the holidays ditched because you didn't think of a good enough gift. So we got your
00:32back, we got all the things you need for every member of your family, even the ones that you
00:37may not connect with as much as say your ma, bro, sis. So take away Charlene, let's kick
00:45it off with a couple of these products. Yeah, absolutely. I have a huge family. There's five
00:49of us in regards to siblings. So this covers, this is the list. So across the board we have
00:55great gifts. So to start with our list here, we have these awesome canvas notebooks from
01:01EOMI. The cool thing about these, they come in three styles and they're very chic and artistic.
01:07So these are $60. Do you love animals in human clothing? You will love these notebooks. This
01:13one's an animal in a dress. She's got a little plume on her head. Come on folks. We've got
01:17a dog in a tux and an elephant in a top hat. So functional, artsy and entertaining. Then we
01:27have these bow ties. So every guy needs some accessory for the holidays and we have these awesome bow ties
01:35that are handmade by General Knot Company. They range from $70 to $80. They have three different styles
01:41styles. And my favorite is this red crimson. It's a very holiday, but you can also reverse
01:47it into a blue bow tie. So perfect for, you know, like your hipster brother or your dad who
01:53loves wearing bow ties and classic, you know, holiday outfits. And then on my wrist, I'm also
01:59rocking this May 28th Instagram watch. So you're like, what does that mean? Instagram watch meaning
02:05that the face of the watch is actually an Instagram print. So it's an RT9 exclusive where we worked
02:11with May 28th and they're $44. Likewise, I'm really digging these necklaces by Erica Wiener. Again,
02:19custom to Tinseltown. Holla! They're $65. We have three variations filled with kind of a pixie dust,
02:26if you will, gold and diamonds, a black version, and then a pearl version. I love these as a gift
02:33to give
02:33to a female member of your family, Ovs, but you can kind of keep one for yourself and give one
02:38to them. It's like
02:39a letter in a bottle of sorts and a friendship necklace too. So now let's talk about, you know,
02:45maybe the more sophisticated gifts, the ones for the older family members. Let's start off with these
02:51Lafko candles and soap sets. And if you don't know Lafko, they're totally reliable, one of the best
02:58brands for scents and soaps. We have a just that, a scent and soap set, a candle and soap. It's
03:09for $50. And it comes in chamomile
03:12lavender, which I assure you is divine. I know you can't smell it over there. And the fresh cut
03:17gardenia, which, yep, also divine. Really fresh actually, super fresh cut gardenia. The other product
03:24that we have by Lafko is this diffuser. I'm kind of new to the idea of a diffuser, but I
03:28think it's
03:29really great for an older family member. They can put it in their bathroom. It's a sophisticated way
03:33to make a room smell nice without having like one of those plug-ins, you know. This is kind of
03:38like
03:38the sophisticated plug-in and it looks really cool too. And that's coming in at $95. $95. And again,
03:46you get, you can refill it. So it's going to last a really long time. And it's by Lafko, so
03:52you know it smells
03:52good. It's in a Redwood scent. And then the last product I think is perfect for mom. It's a beauty
03:59product, but you don't need to match it up to her skin tone or anything like that. It's kind of
04:03a
04:03morning routine. We have a Kahina facial cleanser. We have an argan oil, great for winter winds
04:13protection, and a brightening serum. So it's kind of an all-purpose for everyone's set. And I know that
04:21it would be great to give to a mother or sister, grandmother, and they kind of think about you
04:26every morning when they're putting on their face. Yeah, and all three products are $98. So the entire
04:31set for under $100. I'm really excited about all these products, but I'm also excited that we have
04:36the Danny Jo sisters on board with us today. And they're going to give some more insight into
04:41family shopping. They give kind of a new meaning to it since they are obviously sisters and designed
04:46the Danny Jo line together. So let's see what they have to offer instead.
04:58I know you guys have a pop-up shop here in New York going on. Tell us a little bit
05:02about that.
05:03We do. Our pop-up store is still open. We did it for the holidays, November and December. And it's
05:09just been a great way to kind of showcase the jewelry. When you walk in, there's this amazing
05:13chandelier that's all of our bibs. And then we have the holiday collection, fall, winter,
05:19some of our classics, and some great exclusive styles just to the store. So it was a really fun
05:24way since we live in New York and, you know, to do our first kind of retail shop. And how
05:29long is that
05:30open until? Through New Year's Eve. Awesome. So for those who may not know how you guys got into the
05:36different groups started as Danny Jo. You know, tell us a little bit about how you guys became
05:41business partners, but also, you know, you guys are sisters and working together. We actually started
05:46at a really young age. My dad's a cardiologist. So when we were kids, we would play with his medical
05:51tools and taught ourselves how to do wire work. And taught yourself how to do surgery. And taught
05:56ourselves. It wasn't arteries. Different kind of surgery. My dad was a little disappointed, but no,
06:00ultimately he's very happy. He always wants to wear the bibs. But yeah, we just started. It started as a
06:05hobby. Started selling locally. And it eventually got a lot bigger. The collection's sort of a fusion
06:11of our personalities. Jodi tends to be a little bit more classic. I a little bit more a bohemian
06:17rocker inspired. And then I guess over the years, we've sort of rubbed off on each other. And now, you
06:23know, talking a little bit about slaving away and working together, has there ever been sibling
06:29rivalry or was there growing up? Is there any kind of tension, you know, pressing parents or anything?
06:35So, I mean, there's always a little fighting along the way. But I think for the most part,
06:40there's never really any rivalry. When my sister was born, my mom gave her to me as a gift.
06:46Gave her to you as a gift?
06:47I know, it sounds weird.
06:48Was there a ribbon?
06:49In a basketball?
06:50Pretty much. But no, she didn't want me to get jealous or kind of feel like all the attention was
06:55leaving to my new sister. So, being a mental health counselor, she thought it was a great idea to
07:01kind of, you know, tell me that Danielle was my new gift. And so, ever since then,
07:06I think I always wanted to, like, take care of her and drag her around. And we've had our moments,
07:11but for the most part, you know, we're definitely really supportive of each other.
07:14There was a change of art when we started talking.
07:17But for a while there, I was, like, her favorite gift.
07:20You guys must have some really crazy family photos or just fun to pull up. Every family does.
07:27Yeah.
07:27Is there anything that we can kind of unearth or bring out?
07:31Well, I have a whole family photo album. I'm a little obsessed with my promo units and my sister,
07:36obviously. But this is really embarrassing. I'll be at a bar and I'll be like, let me show you my
07:41family.
07:42Photos starting, I want to say, from, like, I even have one of mom from the 70s.
07:46Oh, look how chic, Bill. She is, like, the chicest little thing. Oh, my gosh.
07:55I'm wearing that dress now.
07:55Look at her, like, gangster hood. Her 70s gangster hood.
07:59I'm really into this. And that's, that's my grandmother. That's the original gangster.
08:04We're wearing a bib. She put a bib on it.
08:08We put a bib on her. Everybody can put a bib on it.
08:09Grandma rocks the bib in the dancing bib of the family. She does.
08:13I know that statement pieces are always in for holidays and all those parties that
08:17we all like to go to. And I'm wearing the Hayden statement necklace and I love it.
08:21What was kind of the inspiration behind this piece?
08:24We loved sort of the idea of Hollywood glam, old Hollywood glam, um, deco pieces.
08:29We did a little bit, made it a little bit modern with, um, some of the iridescent stones,
08:32but did a lot of crystal work.
08:34And I love that one because you can wear it from day into night. It looks great with your dress.
08:38And then you can dress it up for a party, um, wear it with a cocktail dress.
08:41And I think with the jewelry, it's nice when you can get as much use out of it
08:45and wear it with your everyday wardrobe and kind of dress it up for the special occasions.
08:49Yeah, we're selling it for $645. It has a nice price tag, but it is really less.
08:55I love it. It's something that I mean, exactly. It's made to order in New York,
08:59and it's just such a statement piece. You're going to walk into that room and really turn your head.
09:03Two bracelets that are also available on Tinseltown. It's the Julia bracelet.
09:07Um, it comes in this great purple kind of berry jewel tone and also a red. I like to wear
09:13them
09:13together. They both retail for $130. And I guess you guys really helped start the arm party, right?
09:19We, we, we did.
09:21But these are great also just mixed in with anything. Like, you've got it with your watch.
09:25You can mix it in with skinny cuffs, um, for more casual daytime look.
09:29Yeah. I also, I think jewelry is a great gift because it doesn't, it fits everybody. Thank you
09:34so much for joining us. I'm sure you have to get back to your pop-up. I kind of want
09:37to get back to
09:38the pop-up. You should come with us. Shop it a little bit. Um, but so thank you and keep
09:43watching,
09:44keep shopping. This is Refinery29 Tinseltown. See you next time.
09:52In the spirit of holiday giving and family, we asked our Facebook fans,
09:56what's the weirdest holiday gift you've received from a family member?
10:01Erica says that she received a book titled Etiquette for Dummies from her aunt. Apparently,
10:08Erica didn't send a thank you note from the year before. Amber received a pair of
10:13free restaurant chopsticks from her mother-in-law. Ouch. And then we have Cynthia, who received a
10:22crystal paperweight from her mom's boss that said, congratulations, Kathy. And inside the box,
10:30the note said, love mom. Tell us all of your weird holiday gifts that you've received from family
10:35members on our Facebook page.
