When we first wrote about Sephora's new single-use nail-polish pods, the responses were decidedly mixed. While many of you were stoked about the convenience factor, many more were concerned (rightfully so) about the environmental impact these disposable nail hues might create.

So, when we finally got our hands on some samples to test them out, we weren't really sure how we'd feel about them ourselves. We definitely do our best to be as earth-friendly as possible, but we also really like products that make our lives easier. So, we decided to put our qualms to the side and just test these out with one question in mind: Do they work?

Our beauty director Megan, a self-proclaimed manicure-challenged individual, took them to the Beauty Test Lab to give them a go. Watch the video to see her experience. As for that initial moral dilemma, while we can't say we'd recommend these for regular use (that's a lot of accumulated waste over the years), we will say that, as an occasional buy for travel or on-the-go emergencies, these are pretty handy. Do with that what you will.

00:04Hey guys, I'm in the Beauty Test Lab today trying out Sephora's new Formula X press pods.
00:10These are single use nail polish pods that have the brush on one end and enough polish
00:15in this little plastic pod for you to do all ten of your fingernails.
00:19So the idea being that these are really great for travel because you don't have to schlep
00:22around all of your nail polish accoutrements.
00:25So let's go ahead and give it a try and see how it works.
00:27So you just twist this off, this little plastic nib here, and you'll see the brush is right
00:33there.
00:33It's a regular nail polish brush.
00:34And then you're supposed to just be able to squeeze and paint.
00:38I will say the brush is really stiff.
00:40I think that's just because it's dry, so when the polish comes down you can see it kind of
00:44falling through.
00:45This is actually really easy to work with.
00:48Because it's so small, it doesn't feel awkward.
00:51The pressing's a little weird, but because it's so tiny, it's actually easy to maneuver.
00:56So the color's a little streaky right now because it's still taking some time to get
01:00down the brush head and you have to keep remembering to squeeze it so more comes out.
01:05But I'm going to go ahead and do my other hand now.
01:09So I'm going to go ahead and wait for this to dry.
01:12This is just one coat on each hand and hopefully there's enough in here for a second coat because
01:16there are definitely a couple fingers that need it.
01:20So there was enough for me to do two coats.
01:21I went back and did a second coat so I have even coverage on all ten nails.
01:25I think this is a really cool idea.
01:27It's very convenient and it's also cool if you want to try new colors and don't want
01:30to commit to a full polish bottle.
01:32One thing I will say is it's very difficult to press the pod.
01:37You definitely have to play around with this a couple times before you get comfortable enough
01:40to use it.
01:41But when it's completely saturated and you paint it on, it goes on very easily and it's super
01:46easy to maneuver so I think this is kind of a cool innovation.
