00:11I love promposals. I feel like there are a few elements that make a great promposal.
00:18Personalization and creativity.
00:20I'm not going to say yes if you don't give me a creative promposal.
00:23You're in high school, you're 16, 17 years old, like save your money, like actually for prom, buy a limo.
00:29Do not spend it on just the promposal.
00:31I don't know how I feel about promposals. They're kind of a lot.
00:34I think it puts a lot of pressure on people at an age when you don't need that much pressure.
00:40I am someone who hates attention, so I hated my promposal.
00:46So we left school early, we went to his house, which was a couple blocks away from our high school,
00:52and his house was in the water.
00:53So he asked me if I wanted to go jet skiing, and all of a sudden he goes,
00:58oh my god, that's so weird. There's a bottle in the water, like, it looks like there's a message in
01:03there.
01:03I open it, and in the bottle there's a white piece of paper that says,
01:08Katie, prom, and I turned to him and I was like, duh.
01:12It was such a cute promposal.
01:13My choir and I went on a field trip to Disney World.
01:18We're on the people mover.
01:20We were in the dark part.
01:22He puts on a Mouseketeer hat, and we go into the light,
01:28and it has prom question mark on the back of it.
01:32It was the cutest thing ever.
01:33He was in my friend group, but we weren't close,
01:36and I completely didn't know that he liked me or had a crush on me or anything.
01:42So he was already waiting there with the sign that he had already made,
01:45and the whole class was waiting for me to come in, and the whole class was watching.
01:49And then he, like, held up the sign, and it said prom on it.
01:52It felt bad.
01:52I didn't want to, like, mortify this poor boy in front of all these freshmen,
01:56so I, like, played along, but I ended up just calling him later
02:01and, like, saying that I didn't want to go, but then he got really mad at me.
02:0617-year-old Daniel did not have a lot of money, so I had to keep it very simple,
02:12but I still wanted to do something special for him
02:13because I really cared about the person, so I thought even if I didn't have money,
02:17I should do something.
02:17We had an inside joke every time we texted that I played FIFA a lot.
02:21What I did, I took that to my advantage, and I got my FIFA case,
02:25and I put a note inside of it saying,
02:26would you help me score another goal by going to prom with me?
02:29I got my little cousin, my four-year-old cousin,
02:31and he walked over to her house and knocked on the door and handed it to her.
02:35I was actually behind a bush with my friend, just, like, anxiously waiting,
02:39and who says no to a little kid, you know, so.
02:41One of my guy friends, super creative, super talented.
02:44There was something happening at the school.
02:45They had announced that the best promposal would win free prom tickets,
02:51and I was like, why don't we rig the system
02:55and we'll stage a promposal and we can go together.
02:58It didn't look staged because we were theater kids, so we were acting.
03:03We won free tickets, and it was announced to the whole school,
03:05and, like, little did everyone know.
03:07He had gotten the class in on it, and I didn't like that aspect of it
03:10because that pressured me to then be part of it and, like, say yes,
03:15and I think that would have saved both of us, like,
03:17a really uncomfortable conversation later
03:19if it wasn't this whole show that we had to put on.
03:21You don't need to put so much pressure on one night.
03:24And if you're a lady, ask a guy because it's fun.
03:27Why not?
03:28Go with who you want to go with, and don't take it too serious.
03:31Just don't stress about it because in the end,
03:34sure, it's a cute story if it is a cute story,
03:36but it's one night, and someone will probably say yes,
03:40so you don't have to go all out if you don't feel comfortable doing it.
