00:06Hey guys, my name is Claire and for one full day I'm going to be recreating one of my most
00:11painfully awkward totally unstylish looks from middle school. This is what I look like right
00:17now. I've got my cute cut, feeling stylish. Yeah, they're thrift store finds, but I think I have an
00:23eye for what's hip hoppin' in these days. This is what I used to dress like. I was a very
00:30eclectic
00:30kid and I would describe myself as quirky. I liked what I was doing, but I liked it because I
00:38liked
00:38being the weird kid. I was into anime and drawing and neopets, but it made me happy at the time
00:46and
00:46I liked it. So for one full day I will be dressing like this. This is definitely one of my
00:53most
00:55brash looks from middle school. As you can see there is nothing about this that makes any sense.
01:02We have skirts over pants. Great thing about this shirt was it had a hood. It was a shirt with
01:08a
01:08hood. What the fuck? God, this is just...girl what is you thinking? Dressing like that isn't something
01:16that I'm embarrassed about because I did it. I'm embarrassed about it because it did not look
01:21right. At that time I wasn't awkward. I loved what I wore. It's only awkward because I'm looking back
01:28on it. So yeah, I'm probably gonna feel awkward dressing like that, but the important thing was
01:32that at the time I wasn't. So just own what you wear and own your fashion sense. And if people
01:38make
01:38you feel awkward, fuck them. So follow me for the next day as I throw it on back to middle
01:44school
01:44Claire hot couture and try to make this fucking thing work. Good morning everyone. Let's do this.
01:52Honestly, I'm terrified that I'm going to end up on Twitter. Let's hope that doesn't happen because I
01:57really don't feel like being a meme today. So these are the pieces that I will be wearing today. This
02:03is
02:03an okay representation of the shirt that I wore. I also have the accessories, the headband,
02:10the totally unnecessary belt, and well, let's just keep the last one a surprise. So let's go back to the
02:17past,
02:18why don't we? Oh my god, I don't think you guys are ready for this. I'm not even ready for
02:22this. Jesus fucking Christ.
02:25Yeah, no, this is, this is fucking terrible. Yeah, I'm wearing a tutu over my pants.
02:36This is decidedly the worst thing that I have ever left the house in, but I need to channel my
02:42inner 12
02:43year old Claire and just exude unmitigated confidence. Here we go. The thing about New York,
02:53I think, is that no one really cares. No one's saying anything. They're just staring at me. I think I
02:59just
02:59need to believe in myself and believe in my cuteness.
03:10I looked at the timestamp of the photo earlier and I was like, oh crap, this is the first day
03:15of high
03:15school for me. On the first day of high school, how did you feel in terms of confidence with your
03:20outfit compared to now? Uh, I probably felt cute as fuck that first day of high school. Right now,
03:26that entire family just stared you down. Whatever, I look good as hell.
03:41Hey girl. Oh my god.
03:44Is it weird that almost kind of, almost like it, almost like it?
03:47I feel like it's kind of like sex in the seat, minus the fashion part.
03:52I think you look like, um, hallucinogenic ballerina. I dig it. Being here around my friends and co-workers
04:00that like understand this is a thing that I'm doing helps, but I don't know. It's still ridiculous.
04:06You know, being out here in the afternoon, even though there's more people on the street,
04:11I actually feel better. Like, I feel like I've kind of settled into it. This morning,
04:16I just, like, I didn't want anybody to look at me. But now I'm just kind of liking it. I'm
04:19digging it.
04:20This is okay. And I'm really hungry, so let's go have some food.
04:24Moo, I have a very important question for you. Do you like my skirt? Oh, stop it. You're gonna, you're
04:29gonna break it.
04:30Ah!
04:32I think he really likes it.
04:34So, this is the problem that I'm encountering right now, is that this thing, like, does not want to fit
04:40in any sort of chair.
04:43David, what do you think of my outfit?
04:45I like it.
04:48I appreciate it.
04:50So we're wrapping up on the end of the day. Uh, we know that all of my co-workers love
04:55the outfit.
04:56I felt good earlier when I was walking around, a lot better than I did in the morning.
05:01I didn't even want to be looked at.
05:04I think it's one thing to dress for style and another thing to dress for comfort.
05:08But me trying to recreate this outfit isn't really comfortable. It's not a good thing.
05:13But, uh, I love this. I love this. I love the style. Just don't love the tutu.
05:19All in all, I don't think it went too badly. But I gotta tell you, I can't wait to take
05:23this thing off.
05:25I made it home! Yay!
05:29Today definitely has been a very good experience in learning how to love myself, in a way.
05:34It definitely made me tune into a part of myself that I'd forgotten about, which is my child, like, carefreeness.
05:40There's a reason why I dressed like that in the first place. Like, I did not care what people thought.
05:45I was comfortable in my own clothing. I was comfortable in my own sense of fashion.
05:49As terrible as it may have been, I liked it and it made me happy.
05:53But definitely the biggest thing was just be yourself. It makes it a lot easier, trust me.
05:59Thank you guys so much for watching and we'll see you next time. Bye!
