00:04Hi, I'm Yinka Bokini and today I'm having a diet coat break with model and entrepreneur
00:08Felicity Hayward. We're talking all things lifestyle and wellness including stress management,
00:14body confidence and self-love. Are you ready to begin?
00:17Yes, babe.
00:18Yes.
00:18Okay, so you started Self Love Brings Beauty.
00:21Yeah.
00:21And it's a space for people to feel comfortable regardless of age, colour, creed, sexual orientation,
00:27size, it's for everyone, it's all inclusive. What inspired you to begin?
00:34I wanted a place that everyone felt comfortable.
00:37I think one of the things that I think is very inspirational about Self Love Brings Beauty
00:43is the fact that it is for everyone.
00:46I don't feel like you're diverse for diversity's sake.
00:48And you can see that, like in the campaigns you can see that everyone wants to be there.
00:53Each individual person has their own story and their own uniqueness.
00:58Yeah, and like it makes them them.
01:00I feel like the way that you portray yourself is very commendable because as a woman in the media age,
01:07in the limelight, you know, getting papped and all this sort of stuff, yeah,
01:10there's always going to be a certain amount of negative attention.
01:13Where did you get the confidence from to like accept yourself?
01:16I think I came from a small town and I knew at like a young age when I decided to
01:22like throw bleach on my hair
01:24and I wanted to be blonde and I didn't want to be in my hometown.
01:27So I kind of went out of my way to be very rebellious.
01:30And then when you're in London, you almost feel like you're accepted.
01:34I moved here when I was 17 and I just feel like a lot of my friends that here are
01:38all kind of these weirdos from different towns.
01:42Thanks. But yeah, it is Stress Awareness Month. So how do you deal with stress?
01:47I think it's important to like whatever feelings that you have that you're stressed to get them out.
01:52I'm not necessarily saying put them on social media or put them,
01:55but even maybe just writing them in your notes.
01:56I used to teach autistic children before I was a model and we had this kind of idea
02:01that when the autistic kids would get really, really stressed out and frustrated about one thing,
02:06I'd take them outside and we'd go, what's wrong? And they'd be like, I didn't want the blue pencil.
02:10We would get that thought and we'd put it in our hands and pretend it was a ball and we
02:13would throw it.
02:14That kind of idea of taking that stress out, whether it is writing something down.
02:19And also don't be scared to reach out for help.
02:21For me, self-love and self-care is really a mindset.
02:25And it's really something that you have to kind of find yourself.
02:29I've got all these crystals that I have around my bed at night.
02:32And for me, it's that five or ten minutes of maybe just like some meditation.
02:35Yeah, I guess like self-care is more than like shoving a face mask on.
02:39It is.
02:39And like sitting in your bathroom.
02:41It's more about taking care of like, you know, the actual you.
02:45Yeah.
02:46You know, the essence of yourself.
02:47It's just, it really is about taking time for yourself.
02:50Well, Felicity, I want to thank you for taking a Diet Coke break with me.
02:55Before you go, can you please let me know one motto that you live by?
02:59Love yourself for being who you are.
03:02Before I start crying, we should go.
03:06Thanks for having me, babe.
