00:00Advice I would give for my younger self to not limit myself on things I can do
00:04just because of my skin. I promise you that it will get better.
00:09Hey everyone, my name is Madison. Today I'm going to be talking about my skin
00:13journey with hormonal and cystic acne and how my journey has guided me to my
00:19everyday makeup routine. So I've grown up with very bad cystic red acne. I would
00:24wake up in the morning and look in the mirror and just find more and more
00:28breakouts that eventually just started to overtake my face. I went to the
00:33dermatologist and they prescribed me a pill to take every day that some of you
00:38may know as Accutane. After taking this medication for a little while it really
00:43damaged my mental health. Went into my dermatologist and they took me off of
00:47that and prescribed me to spironolactone. Your skin first purges before it heals
00:53so it gets worse before it gets better. I was left behind with a lot of scarring,
00:58texture and redness. I later got micro dermabrasion. It basically is shedding
01:03new layers of your skin. My confidence definitely skyrocketed after my skin was
01:08clearing up. I was finally able to make eye contact again with people and not
01:13think the only thing that they were staring at was my skin. I appreciated my
01:17skin so much more than I did back then and it was something that I value so
01:21greatly now. Now I'm gonna be running you guys through my everyday makeup routine.
01:27So first I'm gonna be going in with my favorite primer.
01:33So next I'm gonna be going in with my foundation. I used to apply a very full
01:39coverage heavy foundation that even added more texture onto my skin. I love this
01:45foundation because it is medium coverage so it still lets the skin breathe. I'm then
01:50gonna go in with my concealer just to spot conceal anything and brighten up the
01:54under eyes. I like to apply this in a upside down triangle underneath the eyes.
02:01Then I'm gonna go in with a translucent powder and I'm gonna be setting the
02:05under eyes as well as the whole face.
02:09Now I'm gonna be going in with my bronzer and applying this to the hollow of my
02:14cheekbones, forehead, and jawline just to give a little definition to the face.
02:21So I'm gonna be applying this pinkish tone blush on the apple of my cheeks just to
02:26add a little more color to the face. And next I'm gonna be going in with some
02:30highlighter. I'm just gonna be first wetting the brush so it makes the
02:33highlight a little more intense and vibrant. I'm gonna be going in with my
02:39favorite palette and using this kind of burnt orange brownish shade as a
02:44transition and this goldish shimmer to apply on the lid.
02:50I'm then gonna be going in and doing my brows with my brow pencil and then later
02:55setting it with my brow gel. I just like to follow the natural shape of my brow
03:01and use hair like strokes to fill in the brow. I'm gonna be going in with my
03:05favorite mascara and just applying this to the top and bottom lashes.
03:13I'm then gonna be going in with this pinkish toned liquid lipstick.
03:24And last but not least I'm gonna be going in with my setting spray.
03:32I was always so embarrassed and ashamed of my skin that I always just
03:35tried to push it aside but I wish I would have gotten help sooner. So if
03:39you've been through something similar to my story I hope you got something from
03:42this video. You're all beautiful and it will get better with time.
