00:07And this is Test Lab, where we test out the internet's craziest trends so you
00:11don't have to. Unless we think you should. So today we're testing out makeup
00:15stencils. These have been around forever. I personally have never tried it. Have
00:19you, Rye? I have not. So today's gonna be interesting and what we're gonna do is
00:23test out half our face using a contour stencil and an eyebrow stencil. The
00:28second half we're gonna freehand how we normally do our everyday makeup. Right.
00:32All right, let's get started. Do you want to put our jackets on? Let's do it!
00:36All right, so we have these Anastasia eyebrow stencils. They come in these little
00:41packs and you can see on the packaging there's actually five different arches
00:46you can choose from. The slim high arch, the medium arch, the high arch, and the
00:54full arch. So regal. So the instructions say to determine ideal brow stencil shapes
00:59like the arch that most fits your natural brow hair through the cutout. High
01:03arch is like perfect for my brow. It's funny, high arch fits for me too. Which is
01:09interesting because we have very different eyebrows. So we're both gonna go with the
01:11high arch, we're ready to go, and we also have some Anastasia brow gel that we're
01:15gonna use. Okay, so once I'm in my rhythm I feel like it's pretty easy to apply and
01:18it's like nice to have this application. But the problem comes with any stencil
01:23that you do. It's if you move slightly, it's off. Brows and lashes are the most
01:28important like parts of the face to me when it comes to my beauty routine. It's
01:32really crucial that this looks right.
01:38You ready? On the count of three, remove your stencils.
01:44Ready? One, two, three.
01:51Whoa.
01:53Okay.
01:55It looks way too thick. I like to fill mine in but this feels like aggressive.
02:00How do you like yours? It looks really bushy. I feel like it's way too thick.
02:03You can actually see the little line wherever it has the middle part in there. Yeah, you can.
02:08Yeah. It'd be nice if you like maybe like that bolder brow look and don't have quite as much hair
02:12there.
02:13You can use these stencils to really fill in to create that like sort of like bold brow.
02:17So let's go ahead and do our contour stencils so we can see the stenciled side first.
02:21Okay.
02:22Okay, so we have our stencils.
02:24I'm just gonna make a guesstimate.
02:26Okay.
02:27I feel like I'm gonna have to do one first and then move the other one down.
02:32No, I just thought it was just like one for the contour and that's it.
02:35If you're doing one line, I'm just doing one line too.
02:37I'm gonna start off with a little bit and then really.
02:41And then if I need to do more then I will.
02:43I'm a big contour gal. I like having that so maybe I'm just gonna go full force and go for
02:47the big swipe and see what happens.
02:49Yeah.
02:49So I'm gonna use a powder to contour and I'm just kind of gonna go through how I normally do
02:53it.
02:53I'm gonna use this darker shade of foundation.
02:58I feel like I'd almost need someone else to hold this stencil for me while I'll apply.
03:02Yeah, yeah.
03:02Because it slides so much too, especially if you already have face makeup on.
03:05So I'm wearing tinted moisturizer and concealer.
03:08Yeah.
03:11Oh my good god.
03:15Right, it didn't work.
03:17I'm sorry I peeled this off really bad. Oh my god.
03:25How do you feel about it?
03:27Um, I definitely feel like it needs to be blended out.
03:31It's like a blending template.
03:32Yeah, it's a template. I think so too. I agree.
03:34Alright, so this is the first side of our face all stenciled up.
03:37Now I think it's time to just like freehand and just do it ourselves, right?
03:42I just took like a deep breath. Like I feel like I'm finally, like that was a lot.
03:45Yeah, now.
03:46It's stressing me out to have this side of my face like this.
03:48Alright, you ready to start with eyebrows?
03:52Already feeling so much better about this.
03:54Right.
03:55In theory this stencil is a good idea, but when you're freehanding, you know your own face, you know your
04:00own brows.
04:01So you can really just kind of like feel out the natural shape of your brow.
04:04I've never used a brow gel before. I typically use a brow pencil, so this is new to me.
04:09I don't think my eyebrows have ever been this thick.
04:12So we have our freehand eyebrow done, now let's freehand contour.
04:15I always just go right under my cheekbone and I think the key here is just to blend it out.
04:19So even if I go a little heavier, I think the blending part is what really sets it in.
04:27Contouring is not an everyday thing for me.
04:29Like my everyday look would be like just to put on some mascara and brows and call it a day.
04:35Okay, so we've finished the freehand contour.
04:41As you can see, the freehand side looks much more natural.
04:45And I think that's all in part because when you know your face and you do your own makeup, you
04:50kind of have an idea of what works for you.
04:52So while mine was a little messy, Ryan did a great job of staying within the lines.
04:56So as you can see, the stencil actually does work.
04:58So it's a great starting point if you really just need help getting that straight line and putting it in
05:02the right spot.
05:03I do recommend though that you blend pretty immediately after using it.
05:06Alright, so we had a great time trying out these stencils today.
05:09I think we can both agree that it's not for us.
05:12But it is a great starting point if you did want to try the stencils.
05:15So definitely fun to play around with.
