To live in a city as brilliant and energetic as the person you get to hold hands with is truly special. Then again, Chicago is good like that. This city is known for its comedy, food, architecture — and the people that make it unique. We, along with Real is a Diamond, spoke to three different Chicago couples about their connection to this great city and how it has enhanced their relationship. One thing is for sure, where to go for date night will never be an issue!

00:00Even before we started dating, people were like, yeah, he likes you, she likes you, like
00:06what are you doing?
00:07But we were like, I don't know, I think we're friends.
00:14In Chicago, there's a lot of opportunities to do improv, stand-ups, theater, and we're
00:20kind of a jack-of-all-trades in that world.
00:22Comedy is huge.
00:23My girlfriend, she works with kids, so it makes me feel like I'm a part-time dad.
00:28Dating another performer does have its ups and downs.
00:31If we both have an audition, there's probably going to be some anxiety in the house, and
00:34we can kind of be each other's rock when the other person has something more stressful.
00:45Becoming parents wasn't an accident, like we didn't wake up one day like, oh, crap.
00:49We kind of write the script as we go along.
00:52I still remember seeing him, exactly where he stood.
00:56I just thought you were so cute right away, but I wasn't obviously going to stare at you.
01:01I just like turned you to me, and then I just kissed her, and it was, it was crazy.
01:05I'm surprised I didn't slap him.
01:07And then I kissed her again.
01:08Yeah.
01:09And then I guess I must have liked it.
01:11A year later, we were married.
01:13And then a year after that, we had Everest, and now she's almost two.
01:18Being new parents, you never know what it's going to do to you.
01:23I feel like I fully saw another side of you when you became a mom.
01:28Woo!
01:29And a little baby in here.
01:31Another one.
01:31The second one.
01:32Mm-hmm.
01:39Chicago has great people everywhere, but the people we love most live in Lincoln Park.
01:43We got married here.
01:43We got married in this neighborhood.
01:44We got engaged here.
01:45We got engaged in this neighborhood.
01:46When I met him, it was a very serious thing to just be completely honest and real with him.
01:50And then it turned out that was like the first time in my life where I was totally honest
01:53and like raw with someone, and we ended up getting married.
01:57So, you really do have to be really real with the person that you love.
02:00Ride or die.
02:01Ride or die.
02:02Yeah.
02:04He's my favorite person in the whole wide world.
02:06She's my favorite person.
02:07I would follow Alex anywhere.
02:10Hopefully, it would just be another part of Lincoln Park, though.
02:17We've been wanting to get in kitties for a while now.
02:20Getting a kitty is just one more part of us admitting ourselves to each other.
02:24And then eventually, we'll raise little kiddies.
02:27Oh, I like what you're doing there.
02:29Yeah.
02:29I think he fell in love with you.
02:31The personality of Chicago is just like the seasons.
02:35There's summer.
02:36There's fall.
02:36There's winter.
02:37There's spring.
02:37And it's like it's not always going to be hot.
02:40You know, summer day with the sun out.
02:42Like, it's going to be gloomy sometimes.
02:43And seasons sort of humble you and make it real.
02:47Wow.
02:47No matter what happens to this man, no matter what, whether he's old and wrinkly, crippled,
02:52bald, broke, whatever would happen to this person.
02:56Like, I will always be by your side.
02:58We're very real with each other.
03:00And that's one of the strongest aspects of our relationship.
03:03I can't imagine finding, like, a more perfect weirdo, you know, for me.
03:08I don't think that we have, like, a five-year plan or anything.
03:12But, like, we're improvising.
