00:00I'm Lucy Fink, and this week I'm trying five days of waking up at 5 in the morning.
00:06Keyword, try.
00:15As the saying goes, early to bed and early to rise makes a woman healthy, wealthy, and wise.
00:22This week I want to see what waking up early can do for me.
00:26But first, coffee.
00:30I typically wake up at 8am, then I go off to work, I'm busy all day, I come home, I
00:36spend some time with my roommates and my boyfriend, and I wake up the next day and I do it
00:40all over again.
00:41But this week I'm going to be waking up three hours earlier each morning.
00:46What does life look like when you spend a few extra hours every day working on just yourself?
00:52So this morning I'm going to, as they say, greet the day.
00:56I'm just going to enjoy the sunrise while I sit and think and write out my personal future goals.
01:05It's late on Monday night, I'm still at work.
01:07There's really something to be said about having a schedule and waking up and eating breakfast.
01:12I'm so excited to do this again tomorrow.
01:15It's Tuesday.
01:23Hey guys, I'm back.
01:25I made a really bad decision and put myself to bed at midnight on Monday night.
01:28It should have been obvious to me, but going to bed at midnight when you plan on waking up at
01:335am
01:34is just not enough hours of sleep for a busy day at work.
01:38Last night I put myself to bed nice and early at 10pm and I got a full 7 hours.
01:43The whole purpose is starting to try to form habits and routines.
01:47Something I've always wanted to do is wake up and go to the gym.
01:50This week is no excuses and no snoozing and I'm up at 5.30 so I made an appointment with
01:57a personal trainer named Stan and I'm going to eat some breakfast here first so that I don't
02:01collapse.
02:02Then it's off to the gym.
02:04I'm going to work it out.
02:09One more rep.
02:10Slowly up.
02:13One more rep.
02:15And inhale.
02:17Exhale and inhale.
02:19Keep it slow and controlled.
02:20Breathe.
02:22Four.
02:22Keep breathing your door.
02:26Nice job, nice job, nice job.
02:27Good work.
02:28Look at you right now.
02:30You woke up maybe an hour ago and you're full of energy.
02:33Yes.
02:34You're high energy right now.
02:36Get some water in.
02:37Get some protein.
02:38You're good.
02:39Cool.
02:39Awesome.
02:40Lucy Fink, new boxing champion.
02:42in. I'm out. It's the middle of the day. At this point, I should be experiencing some
02:48sort of midday slump, but something about waking up and going to the gym really changed
02:53that for me. In fact, I feel more productive today than I've ever felt. Two more days of
02:58waking up at 5 a.m., and so far so good. Good morning, video friends. 6.15 a.m. I'm
03:20at
03:21the office by myself, save for my cameraman, Andrew. Say hi.
03:27What's happening right now is the answer to that question that I asked myself on
03:30Monday. What does life look like when you have a few extra hours for yourself each day?
03:35Right now, I'm here early for a reason, hoping that I can blow through some work and get out
03:40of here early. In general, this week, waking up at 5 and getting some me time in before
03:45starting the day really put me in a better mood. Would I do it every day? Ah! The lights
03:51just went on creepy. Right now, I'm giving myself the opportunity to be super efficient,
03:56organized, and productive so that being here three hours earlier hopefully means I can get
04:01out of here three hours earlier because it's Thursday night in New York, and I'm excited,
04:05and it's almost the weekend, and we're ready to party! Right, Andrew? Yes.
04:19It's Friday, and for the past five days, I've woken up at 5 a.m. Early to bed and early
04:26to rise makes a woman healthy, wealthy, and wise. The most vital part of that phrase is early to bed,
04:33and that's something that I completely miss.
04:35On Monday night. Should I tell them that I fell asleep on the subway? I fell asleep on the subway.
04:39So rule number one. If you are going to wake up at 5 a.m., be sure to get a
04:43full night's sleep. Healthy, wealthy, and wise. I can definitely see how waking up at 5 a.m. can improve
04:50your health overall. If you have more time to get in a good breakfast, you can wake up and go
04:53to the gym in the morning. Wealthy. The cash is rolling in. Not really. But I can see how waking
05:02up early can give you a little extra time to make those extra bucks.
05:05Last but not least, wise. Do I feel wiser? Well, if by wiser you mean tired, then yes, I feel
05:19wise. Give a pillow.
