Laurita Mazapan paints a model's back based on a specific emotion
Transcript
00:01When I paint another person, the process starts with a conversation to understand what is in her mind.
00:11While I'm painting, some elements come to my mind that could emphasise what she wants to represent.
00:17For example, the tree. What is the better way of representing the growing up of a woman with the shape
00:24of a woman?
00:25We spoke about the current situation of women in the world. That's why we wanted to introduce the handcuffs.
00:32These handcuffs are broken little by little and at the end the women is flourishing.
00:41When I have to represent the mind of somebody else, it's much more difficult because I have to empathise, I
00:48have to connect with the person.
00:51What I want is that when the person sees herself in the mirror, it's like, yes, this is me.
00:58I would like to know how did you feel while I am painting.
01:02I was nude, but I was feeling really relaxed. It was really positive for me at the same time.
