00:02And, I don't know if it'll be Christmas later or not, but her presents is a present, so please give
00:07it up for Lucy Balls!
00:14I think there's a huge disconnect between what America probably thinks of as a drag queen and what happens.
00:21I mean, sure, some of it is the same.
00:23We go to a bar, we perform for gay people, we're doing gay music, but I don't think they understand
00:30the culture and the mindset behind it necessarily.
00:33And I don't think that they understand that it's a career, it's not a lifestyle.
00:39I'm not a trans person, I'm not living my life as a woman.
00:42It's a career getting dressed up as this character of a woman.
00:46I think that's one of the biggest misconceptions is they think that I want to be a woman for some
00:50reason and I'm not.
00:51It's a career, I take this off when I come home.
00:55I slip into my boy pajamas and I fall asleep.
00:58I'm not living my life as a female.
01:07It can be really weird having a double identity.
01:15It's definitely a double-edged sword.
01:18It's like there's this part of you that loves it because you get such attention and respect and you have
01:24such a good time when you're this drag queen.
01:26People are so interested in talking to you.
01:29But then when you're out of drag and you see the same people, suddenly they're not impressed by you at
01:36all.
01:37And some just wouldn't even bother giving you the time of day.
01:40So it really brings into question on why you're doing drag and what you're getting out of it.
01:45And what you value in yourself and what others value in you.
01:49And why it is that some people are so attracted to this character that you've created.
01:54And what it means that you have to create this character to get a certain kind of attention from people.
01:59It's something that I constantly am cycling through my head and then I think I've found the answer to.
02:04And then a week later I've completely changed my mind.
02:18Lucy in my mind is sort of like Luke Plus.
02:22Like Luke on steroids.
02:24It's all those very dark corners of my mind where there's the grossest, nastiest, most perverse thoughts.
02:32And with Lucy, she's an outlet for me to translate those to the public.
02:39She allows me to be completely honest and frank without repercussions.
02:45She allows me to let go of my life as an employee in an office and my life as a
02:51person in society trying to be polite.
02:53So it can be really liberating in that way.
03:02They couldn't lie over your life.
03:07households would be really memorable.
03:14and ounces of so송 and pumping lyrics do things all the way in the lungs.
03:15They can't dig nothing off, they can't dig nothing off, they can't dig anything off.
03:19They can't dig anything off.
03:19Except the thing I tweet, it's why she's the birdson.
03:21But, you know neither dei sorted声 would be so good.
03:21You know, you know, theциIL that I get in a car,
03:26You know, her earnhey are山j Ladley,
03:29the biggest trick,
03:29for speaking from a crowd of riffy.
03:30it's not all nightclub theaters.
03:31Theszy still shows there's not too small in香港 words.
03:34I think my message as Lucy is to not take life so seriously.
03:38I think a lot of times being a gay person in life can be, I mean for anybody really,
03:45it can be a really difficult experience.
03:47Somebody, you know, getting called a faggot every day when you walk down the street can
03:51be a little trying emotionally.
03:53So Lucy really allows me to just say it's not so serious, it's not as bad as it seems.
04:00It's sort of necessary even to laugh at yourself, to laugh at others, to allow others to laugh
04:06at you.
04:08It really allows you to let people into your life that way if you're willing to open yourself
04:16up in that way.
04:17So my message has always been to just laugh at life.
04:21It's too, too short to be so serious and to be so down on yourself all the time.
04:29Ugh.
04:31Excuse me.
04:32Sorry.
04:33Sorry.
04:33No.
04:36No.
04:37No.
