00:01We've called her the future.
00:02She's really the now of competitive snowboarding.
00:05Chloe Kim, the golden one.
00:07Last time around when they were picking the U.S. Olympic team,
00:10she would have qualified based on points,
00:12but she was in fact too young to compete in the Olympics.
00:15Don't you hate when that happens?
00:24When you're on a snowboard, you're going to strap in.
00:27You're going to feel a little weird because you're standing sideways.
00:30You might fall over a few times.
00:32You're dropping in pretty fast.
00:34You're going to feel the friction.
00:35You're going to feel the movement, the momentum.
00:38When you go up the wall, it's like pretty insane.
00:41You're going to feel all the g-forces working against you.
00:46It's kind of like a roller coaster.
00:48There's a lot of spinning.
00:49You look down and you're just going in circles
00:51and you see a lot of blurs.
00:53It doesn't feel like you're hanging upside down.
01:02It's the Burton U.S. Open Women's Half-Pipe Final.
01:05The most prestigious title of the winter season.
01:16My main goal for this competition is just to put down a solid run that I'm happy with.
01:21Being super chill and laid back.
01:23Not being too stressed.
01:24Just finding that happy place and staying there.
01:26Having fun is my greatest strategy.
01:29I have known Chloe since she was about 11 years old.
01:33I saw her riding at a snowboard contest and was like, that girl is going to be the next thing.
01:37People use the term prodigy a lot.
01:39She's unnaturally talented for someone that young.
01:41When I'm just having fun, I feel like my riding is so much cleaner and I'm not as stiff.
01:47Just relax.
01:48My training regimen involves skateboarding, trampolining, working out, trying to eat healthy.
01:54Trying, but not really.
01:57I was stuck at the gym for a few months for knee rehab.
02:00I partially tore my ACL a couple summers ago and that was really hard.
02:04I feel like we've all had moments where we think about giving up.
02:08I think every bad experience I've had has been a learning experience.
02:12Chloe is one of the true faces of progression.
02:15All the young girls that are inspired by top-level snowboarders to see what she's doing and see that it's
02:21possible.
02:21It's going to create insane talent in the future.
02:24And when you look at her from just a technical standpoint, what she is able to do on that snowboard,
02:30how big she's able to go out of this pipe.
02:32Last year I was able to put down a pretty solid run and I took home first.
02:37She landed back-to-back 1080s, which means she did an 80-degree rotation.
02:46And then landed backwards and then did a switch 1080, which is insane.
02:52The pressure is on Chloe Kim now, finally.
02:56She's got to deliver.
03:08Fairly moderate backside air.
03:10Not her biggest, but a frontside nine there from Chloe Kim.
03:16Into a McTwist.
03:18So the game plan for Chloe Kim out here today was, let's not come out guns blazing.
03:28You still did a better job, so more of the same.
03:31I'm hyped, thank you.
03:32Yeah.
03:37Will we see some big spins there?
03:40The frontside 1080 from Chloe Kim.
03:44So McTwist.
03:45That will be the highest scoring run.
03:48An 86.8.
03:56She's going to go for it.
03:57Oh.
03:58Oh.
03:58Oh.
04:00Oh.
04:01Oh.
04:02And KhoenyPass.
04:03Does she know that she has already won this?
04:06Chloe Kim's victory laps have become legendary.
04:11Chloe Kim, you have already grabbed your second win at 16.
04:14I mean, that's just nuts.
04:16She will continue that progression,
04:18and this guy's the one cloaking.
04:21Pretty stoked on life.
