00:03Hey, it's Katie Henson-Brana from Refinery29, and today I'm talking to some of the top chefs
00:08in San Francisco and having them set the record straight on some of their tricky-to-say restaurant
00:12names. So I'm here with Daniel Patterson, and he's going to tell us how you say the name of
00:22his restaurant. So the restaurant is pronounced Croix, and it's an archaic French word from the
00:28Middle Ages, and it means tranquil or quiet. So now we know how to say Croix, let's hear
00:32what the rest of the chefs have to say. My name is Alessandro Campitelli, and I'm the
00:42owner and executive chef of Chiaroscuro Restaurant in the Financial District San Francisco, and
00:48sometimes people have a hard time to say the name of the restaurant, but the correct way
00:52to say it's Chiaroscuro.
01:02My name is Ryan Maxey. I'm co-owner here at Choco. This is our restaurant, and a lot of people
01:08will
01:09certainly mispronounce the name. I've heard Zoco, I've heard Toko, some people won't even try and
01:13pronounce it, but the proper pronunciation is Choco.
01:24Hi, my name is Dominique Rennes. I'm the chef-owner of Atelier Rennes in San Francisco.
01:31Often it's hard for people to pronounce the name of the restaurant.
01:35Our friend here is Atelier Grène, but that's not the right way. It's Atelier, which means workshop
01:45in French, and Crennes is my last name. So welcome to Atelier Crennes.
01:56My name is Tracy Desjardins, and my restaurant's name is Jardiniere. So, Desjardins and Jardiniere.
