00:01My name is Stephanie and my artist-in-residence is Deal With It.
00:06As a female artist, I think it's really important that the image that I'm putting out there
00:10is aspirational and uplifting and encouraging.
00:15So I think if you have a talent or a gift, you have somewhat of a social responsibility
00:20to use that to depict an image of positivity rather than false ideals of how people should be.
00:30Through my art, I depict women taking up space and living their life and the day-to-day experiences of
00:37a woman,
00:37whether that's her lounging in the nude amongst her plants drinking wine,
00:41or other pieces that speak to feelings that you may experience throughout the day or even the week.
00:51When I really started drawing these different women, a lot of it was a representation of myself
00:56and the environment I was in, and I've always surrounded myself with plants,
01:00so I chose to draw plants in my work as an accessory to how I was feeling
01:06and to bring life to the girl in this environment that she's in.
01:18I don't really think it needs to be an exact replica. It should be very personal.
01:26To me painting is emotional because it is an expansion of your mental self through your physical self.
01:34What you're feeling in your mind literally comes through your fingertips
01:38and onto a paper or a screen or whatever medium you choose.
01:42I'm so happy to do that so.
01:47I'll see you next week.
01:47I'll see you then.
01:47Bye.
