The regime has continued to implement its own political roadmap: its military dominated constitution was approved forcibly by vote rigging and voter intimidation in the May 2008 referendum. In order to hold the referendum on its scheduled date, the regime reportedly ignored the devastation of Cyclone Nargis, which killed more than 150,000 people and affected about one-third of the country. Their actions may amount to a crime against humanity. Similar practices will assuredly be exercised in the forthcoming election to be held in 2010, legitimizing the military rule[10] and prolonging military dictatorship in accordance with the constitution.
