Costa Rica releases El Salvador-style prison images as first inmates arrive at new jail
Images released by Costa Rica's Ministry of Justice show a new maximum-security prison receiving its first inmates, with spaces and operations similar to those often depicted in images distributed by El Salvador. Costa Rica's High-Containment Centre Against Organised Crime (CACCO) is modeled after the prison built by Bukele to combat gangs, a project that has been heavily criticized by human rights organizations.
