00:06That's a great question.
00:07One of the things I realized going through this process was a lot of people want to point to other
00:13people for your success.
00:15So half of the start of my job, I was killing stories, essentially saying so-and-so got me this
00:21job.
00:22And I think it was very difficult that the president himself recruited me for whether it was people that had
00:29been in the mainstream media for a very long time and wanted the job or the D.C. beat reporters
00:34that had been vying for that job since the beginning, that I would be recruited off of the media, out
00:40of the media by the president himself for one of the most prestigious jobs.
00:44And the work that it took to get there should not be undermined by placing me in any category, that
00:51I was relentless for years tracking his true social posts, tracking the wins.
00:58This did not come as some cheap reward for so-and-so recommended Katie, that this was a very long,
01:07arduous process.
01:08And the president himself is really the talent recruiter in chief.
01:12And I did not get an opportunity to show what I could have done for President Trump and the American
01:19people, that the introduction to my first press briefing was only a few hours of actual briefing material being given
01:28to me the morning of, that I wish a lot of people asked questions about the time frame on which
01:36I had to brief.
01:37And I will say that the support of former press secretaries like Kayleigh McEnany and Ari Flesher and Sarah Huckabee
01:47Sanders and Sean Spicer, so much support and understanding that I didn't have adequate runway to be able to give
01:55a comprehensive briefing to the American people.
01:57And I did really the very best I could with the limited circumstances.
02:02And yes, in hindsight, are there things I would change, but it was a week of adrenaline and no sleep
02:10and tons of coffee.
02:11And I wish only that I could continue to fight for the president and the American people as press secretary.
02:21And I will do it from the outside and continue to support him.
