00:00Hello Survivors!
00:02Have you ever felt speechless looking at a beautiful view?
00:06This is how you'll feel when you see what our developers have been working on.
00:11The improved lighting, landscapes and effects will delight you in this spectacular art update.
00:18Today we'll see how the locations have changed, how water and plants interact with machines
00:23and of course how the new explosions look.
00:27Let's dive in.
00:29Let's start with an overview of the locations.
00:32For each map, we revised the color palette, contrast and tonal transitions.
00:36We also fine-tuned the lighting direction, exposure and fog.
00:41We've updated and highlighted the uniqueness of even the smallest spots of the wasteland.
00:46Even under similar weather conditions, each location will have its own unique atmosphere.
00:51We've combined the sun, atmosphere, global illumination, reflections and shadows into an
00:56updated system where all elements share common environmental data and complement each other.
01:02A modern atmospheric scattering model highlights the beauty of the sky.
01:08It allows for better rendering of intensity and color, atmospheric perspective and the
01:13simulation of air pollution or the presence of water particles.
01:20We've also reworked the global illumination system, which is responsible for indirect lighting.
01:27Thanks to this technology, the surface is illuminated not only by the sun but also by the surrounding scene.
01:33We've refined this technology and significantly increased its range.
01:37Take a look at the shaded areas.
01:39That's where you can see how indirect lighting works.
01:42Now take a look at the armored car under an arch or cave ceiling.
01:46The new graphics feature local reflection maps.
01:49They allow for a more accurate depiction of the immediate surroundings, inside hangers, tunnels and
01:54under cave ceilings.
01:55Shadows have also been improved.
01:58Shading under vehicles and between small objects is now more precise.
02:02It's free of unnecessary blackness and features greater detail.
02:06The updated fog will feel almost tangible and look more expressive.
02:10Now it has two independent layers, each with its own density and height settings.
02:15This adds depth and volume to every scene, highlighting low-lying areas,
02:19filling caves and separating distant objects from those nearby.
02:23The transition from the road in front of the car to the horizon now looks more natural.
02:28The fog lighting changed as well.
02:29Now the fog takes the light from the sky and the surroundings into account,
02:33instead of just overlaying a single color over the image.
02:36Now that we've finished admiring the lighting, let's take a look at what's beneath our feet.
02:41A new landscaping technology.
02:43The surface now features adaptive tessellation.
02:46It adds geometry where terrain relief needs to be present.
02:50Now elements can actually protrude above the ground rather than just being depicted on a flat texture.
02:55Material blending has also changed.
02:58Rocks naturally show through the sand and the ground fills in the gaps between them.
03:02This is thanks to the height blend technology that accounts for the height of parts on each layer of a
03:06surface.
03:07We've updated rocks and mountains, reduced the visibility of repeating textures, and better integrated objects into the landscape.
03:15Small stones, twigs, leaves, and debris now fill in areas that previously lacked detail.
03:20Blurred seams have been replaced with textured transitions.
03:23At the same time, we intentionally smoothed out the physics models so that your vehicles won't get stuck on small
03:29objects.
03:30Rocks are meant to pave the road, not put an end to your battle.
03:33The vegetation has become more dense and vibrant.
03:36The updated wind sways the undergrowth, and the shades of grass now match the color of the landscape.
03:41The light now goes through the thin leaves.
03:43As a result, the vegetation looks more natural under direct solar lights and with indirect lighting.
03:48But the most exciting part is driving over grass, since now vehicles can flatten it.
03:54The large bushes also have a physical reaction.
03:56Individual branches bend when they come into contact with the car.
04:00The water is no longer an afterthought.
04:03We've completely updated its appearance and added new reactions to in-game events.
04:07Something can cause large waves or gentle ripples,
04:10and currents flow around shores and obstacles, changing direction as they move through the riverbeds.
04:16Look beneath the surface.
04:18Dirt and waves distort the view of the bottom.
04:20Visibility changes with depth.
04:22And refracted light creates shifting patterns of light called caustics.
04:26But you won't have long to admire the stillness of water.
04:29Moving objects and weapon fire cause ripples and splashes.
04:33Foam, shoreline waves, and surface debris complete the overall picture.
04:37All bodies of water are based on the same underlying technology,
04:40but their characteristics are adapted to their surroundings.
04:43Wild rivers, wetlands, and even small puddles behave naturally.
04:48Artillery volleys, flames, and smoke now match the overall visual style of the updated wasteland.
04:53We have created new textures, increased their resolution, and reworked their shape and color scheme.
05:00The effects are now more detailed and coordinated.
05:02A completely new technology is used to animate them smoothly.
05:06It takes into account how effect components move between frames,
05:09helping to smooth transitions without losing sharpness.
05:12Particle lighting has also changed.
05:14Smoke and other effects now use global illumination,
05:17cast shadows more realistically, and feature improved volume simulation.
05:21As a result, they blend more naturally into the scene,
05:24and don't look like a separate image superimposed on the battlefield.
05:28If an armored car has to explode, let it go out with a spectacular bang.
05:33Of course, it's best to admire the explosion of someone else's vehicle.
05:39Updated fire and water is really great, but what about the hardware, you may ask?
05:44Yes, the updated graphics will require more power from your GPU,
05:48but we have considered additional ways to increase FPS.
05:51The updated DLSS and FSR upscalers restore the image from the lower resolution,
05:57allowing you to reduce the load on the GPU.
05:59You don't have to use them, so change your settings for balance between quality and responsiveness.
06:05I can already feel your anticipation in seeing all of this for yourselves,
06:09but we've saved two more announcements for last.
06:12First, we are changing the format of Clan Wars.
06:15The old rules are being replaced by the gauntlet of the Survivor's format.
06:19The rules are the same, two leaderboards and three mission types.
06:22However, there will be some minor changes, which we'll cover in more detail in our developer blog.
06:28The second announcement concerns the exhibition.
06:31Players can now share their creations with each other, regardless of platform.
06:36By pressing on the corresponding icon, you can choose which blueprints to display,
06:40those assembled on PC or on consoles.
06:43You can save exhibits from other platforms.
06:45The ability to search by blueprint name will remain, but without the author's profile.
06:50Well, all the elements of the Crossout universe are ready to be revealed in a brand new look.
06:56Familiar maps are now more detailed, the environment is more vibrant, and battles look more spectacular.
07:02Now, it's your turn to enjoy the update.
07:05See you soon in this brave new post-apocalyptic world, Survivors!
