00:18Glee took its final bow on March 20, 2015 — or so we thought. Fox's wildly popular
00:25musical series is now officially returning, despite the cloud of tragedy that still hangs
00:29over the cast to this day — the so-called Glee curse. But first, here's what we know about
00:36the reboot. The show is returning on Disney Plus and Hulu, and Lea Michele is said to be
00:40reprising her role as Rachel Berry, with one source telling Variety, she is in. Heather
00:46Morse also seemingly confirmed her involvement, writing on Instagram,
00:50Yes, ladies and gentlemen of women, rumors are true. Brittany S. Pierce was in fact lost
00:56in the sewers for all these years. But I'm here to inform you that she is alive and well,
01:01and back for more Glee.
01:02Gord Overstreet, who played Sam Evans, aka Fishlips, in Troutymouth, tweeted this,
01:08Reunited and it feels so good. Mr. Hsu himself, Broadway star Matthew Morrison, however, is
01:14not in talks to appear in the revival. Deadline reported that he's hopeful that he'll be part
01:19of the project. And several cast members are no longer with us. In July of 2013, Cory Monteith,
01:25Lea Michele's on-screen and real-life boyfriend, died at the age of 31 from an accidental overdose,
01:31a deadly cocktail of heroin and booze. His death was incorporated into the show in Season 5, Episode 3,
01:38titled The Quarterback, without specifying how the character passed away. Then in March 2018,
01:43Mark Saling, who played Puck, died by suicide after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography.
01:50He knowingly downloaded illicit images of minors, thousands of them, across an eight-month period in
01:552015, culminating in his arrest later that year. His Glee co-star Naya Rivera, whom he dated from 2007
02:02to 2010, wrote in her memoir, Sorry Not Sorry, Dreams, Mistakes, and Growing Up, that she was not
02:08totally shocked by sailing's charges. Then in July 2020, Naya Rivera died in a boating tragedy
02:14in California's Lake Peru. Her then-four-year-old son, Josie, miraculously survived.
02:20Authorities believe the actress, who played Santana on Glee, went swimming without a lifejacket.
02:25When the boat began drifting, she mustered enough energy to get her son back on the boat,
02:29but not enough to save herself. Josie's last image of his mother was seeing her disappear under the
02:34surface of the water. Just heartbreaking to imagine it. Along with these tragic deaths,
02:39the cast of Glee was also hit with several scandals over the years. Workplace bullying,
02:43inappropriate sexting, and claims of physical abuse between co-stars. Yikes.
